Do those Normatec leg things work?

I'm asking myself
1) why could I find no published studies of efficacy on their website?
2) how does a compression device increase circulation? Seems more like a giant tourniquet, and don't they decrease circulation?

I do a lot of cycling, and they are popular among amateur cyclists (mostly because amateurs see that the pros, who ride many more hours that they/we do and find them useful--and get them for free, use them). I've used them a few times and didn't find that they performed any useful rehab or recovery for me. Also, they are very expensive and take up a lot of space.

Work in what sense ? I have a pair of the first generation boots and I enjoyed using them a lot when I first got them. Basically it's like getting a massage, not sure if the benefits are the same. I will say that if I use them at night I almost always fall asleep. Also after I had meniscus surgery my doctor gave me a similar device which I used to prevent blood clots ? The latest generation is wireless which is pretty nice.

Stoko works for support ? Similiar to wearing knee braces ? I've been tempted, but those are even more expensive than Normatec boots.
I have what I call "knee instability", meaning I don't have knee pain, but sort of knee "weakness" (of course knees don't have muscles and thus don't possess "strength"). But I feel wary when I run flat out. It's just a feeling. But the Stōkōs give me "support" so I don't get the feeling, so I run flat out. It's a little hard to describe.

I have a pair, find them extremely helpful, and use after every time I play. It’s basically a massage that helps circulation and flush lactate from your muscles. That said, you could probably get the same effect after exercise by riding a stationary bike or doing some light stretching. But, after a hard tennis session I would rather sit on the couch and have that done for me.
