I liked them and still hard to believe they discontinued them. Save cost, cut corners.
 
I think Nike made better looking shoes in the past, seems I've come across a lame period to return from retirement for that brand

#1 Nike Air Tech Challenge I!! The original! In the green and orange! Nike, follow your own dang slogan and "JUST DO IT"!!! #1A Nike Air Tech Challenge IV 3/4...sold here not only overseas!! Yes, they released this back about 4 years ago. I was lucky enough to grab a pair from a Nike retailer in Italy. But to release this shoe, in the OG Cerise color way, and not sell it here was downright stupidity idiotic!! Release it again and while you have the Cerise color, also release the "Marina" blue color way (The "Not Ginger" color from the ads back then).

#2: Nike Air Challenge LWP!! In ALL 4 OG colors!! My favorite (which I still have and wear) is the black/dark teal! One of the best shoes!!

#3 Nike Air Pounce! Such a stable fast shoe. Felt like I could track down anything on the court.

#4 Nike Air Zoom Beyond (The FO colorway). Had 2 pairs and LOVED them!! Such a supportive shoe!

#5 Zoom Challenge (the Olympics and US Open shoe). Awesome under foot cushioning and the carbon weave at the back in the blue with his "A" logo... AWESOME!!

These are the ones I want to see return before any others. Nike, once you see just how well his '90 Challenge Court clothing will sell (and believe me, it's gonna sell like HOTCAKES) you better keep doing it and release some shoes with the next launch!!!

Oh, and also, Reebok, redo the Pump Court Victory. Still have my 2 pairs of OG colors of the retros and one of the II version. These need to come back as well

And lastly, All of Guga's Diadora high tops!

I just finished a project where I cataloged all my shoes I ever used or owned since I was about 9yrs old, mostly Nike Tennis shoes from late 80s until today, and for sure it made me miss/want all of them again. Mostly the late 90s->2005 era I miss the most, each season had a completely new design and they tried out a lot of different stuff (uppers, cushioning, materials, etc). No doubt today's shoes perform better, but only until the last 10 months has there been any real surprises.
 
when i was a teenager, i had one of these Diadora Rebound Ace back in the 90's (it was released in 1992) - i thought it was an awesome pair and really like it...

there seems to be a re-issue.... i may track one down if the price is right and see what it is like these days 8-B

It wasn't a direct reference to what he said. I used it mainly as a context to illustrate the whole debate about competitive prices in tennis nowadays (and how some use double standards to illustrate what is "cheap" and what is "expensive", depending on several things).

On the other hand, it is amusing, that you expect from a, what, 25 years old shoe technology and construction (i.e. a heritage shoe), to be for "on court" use. Bizarre.

yeah it can be bizarre for some - but if a company can still make "certain" racquets with 25+ year-old 'basic" technology... then i think it is okay that someone can also expect the same be applied to the shoe/apparel sector...

It seems to me that producers would be looking to create that holy grail shoe that players would come back to year after year or even month after month.

I get the racquet marketing hype and the model's physical changes. Companies need to sell frames to stay in business but graphite racquets last a fairly long time. Producers simply cannot wait years for our frames to go dead for us to come back to buy a replacement.

Shoes, on the other hand, they will always wear out. some of us go through them faster than others, but eventually they find their way to the trash heap. Way back in the day, companies might produce the same shoe for many, many years. Now, they often come out for a season and then the are replaced by a different model. Sometimes, the replacement model is "inferior" to the model that it replaced.

Does anybody know the marketing strategy for companies to stop making one shoe, and begin making another. It does not seem, to me, that the new shoes are much or any better than the discontinued ones.

It is OK. It is just not very realistic, but, if you prefer to be that guy, who am I to stop you from expecting that? Plenty of people prefer to live in the past for whatever reason.

The title of this thread is about the shoes from the past, not whether they are comparable to the new tennis shoes (they aren't).

Totally. I played in the adidas Lendl when they reissued them last time and they were fine. My thought was if these shoes were good for Ivan back in the day, they must be super good for me, at my level (the HOFer was famous for his physical strength.) Now, regarding the Rebound Ace: if you are not a toe dragger, they should perform great for your needs, assuming you are not at pro level.

Yep. If they were/are good for the touring pros, then they’d be still good for my self assessed 2.75 level. lol

Loved these. I had all 3 colorways. Nike should use these as inspiration for a new shoe - make the swoosh bigger and get rid of the molded part near the heel and its $$.
 
Nike Mac Attack. A retro with air would be awesome.
Everybody loves the ATC 2, but I am partial to the ATC 1.
Air Ace doesn't get talked about much, but I remember it was popular as the exposed airbag was so unique.

Air Oscillate, still the only Nike shoe I haven’t returned! A wide Nike shoe (the only one?), great traction, phenomenal shank for support. and responsive cushioning that didn’t feel like a brick and kill your legs.
 
Nike Air Court Motion International - most stable shoe (in my memory). Full length Zoom Air was an amazing ride, but the outsole wore out like butter!

Barricade 2015 Boost - The Boost in the heel entirely elevated this model. Without it, it's a great stable shoe - fit my foot like a glove, breathable, the perfect weight and feel. But with the added Boost, I got the perfect blend of stability for the forefoot/midfoot area, but amazing cushioning for heel strikes. Still looking for these on the bay.

Without question the Nike Air Tech Challenge 3.

I am hoping that they will do another release.

I missed the drop, a few years back. :(

I also like the Asics Gel Resolution 6, Nike Courtballistec 2.3 & 4.3, as well as the Nike Zoom Cage 2.
 
Easily the first Challenge Court from 1992 that AA wore to Wimbledon. Walked into a local Nike Outlet and a corner of te wall was filled with these all-white shoes with nubby soles. $10/pr
