Do you play tennis with your friends or at a club just for fun or do you play in tournaments such as USTA, school or at your local club?

I'm mostly a rec player but I would like to start entering more community tournaments.

i play rec as i have played only for 1 year however im going to try and enter some tournaments.i hope to play competetively soon.lol

Just started playing so recreationally but my goal is to be able to play in tournaments in a year. I´m willing to work my ass off for this goal!

I play mostly recreational with my friends and such. Even when we play a match...its all for fun. But i play varsity for my HS team so come time for tennis season i do play competitive tennis.

Where's the option for both?

My local community has a tennis association, so it's a little bit like a club, but not quite. Basically you pay a small annual fee to get access to the courts and help to pay for court upkeep. They run several tournaments every year and do a tennis ladder and a non-USTA team tennis league. The Tennis Assoc. also holds fun mixers and a very fun drop-in-tennis night.

I play both local and USTA tournaments, but even when I have a ladder match, odds are it's against one of my friends or a person I know. On the flip side of that, a lot of the people I play against competitively also get together and hit around for fun.

More recreationally in a league I play in , but play in tourneys every once in a while. I would call these USTA tounraments recreational as well, because you don't win money.

Similar here. I'd call it that I play recreationally in competitive tournaments and leagues... :-)

Incomplete poll. Should have a "both" catagory. I play USTA leagues in addition to drop-in singles and drop-in doubles (social).
