Do you play tennis or are you a non-playing fan?

I never have shoulder issue. Was it because of serve? I always try to relax on my serving motion. I also use heavy racquet and soft string. Soft string is very important to avoid pains or injuries.
I used a heavy racket but poly strings.
And many hours of serving with a cold shoulder.

I have a busted shoulder [osteoarthritis] and developed carpal tunnel syndrome because of the tennis elbow. Not to mention a surgery to fix a rupture on my right lateral meniscus I had to do some years ago. This sport can be very taxing if you're a bad player that desperately wants to win :-D

I'm a scrub, the wall beats the crap out of me. But seriously, I play against the wall sometimes, in case no one else is at my park (mainly go to the park to play bball).

@ByeByePoly only plays Pickleball now

And yet … I could pull my racket down from the closet shelf any day and beat the crap out of you on the tennis court. In fact, I could beat the crap out of you in tennis with a paddle.

;) :-D

Sorry … in a bad mood … my $100 401k is now $10. Not sure I can afford new wiffles.

@our brought it up, maybe I can get some more votes in here for newer members.
I wonder if there is a selection bias where the ones who play tennis are more likely to vote in this poll. The ones who post a lot on a tennis forum but don’t actually play the sport might not want to advertise it especially since the poll is public and shows who voted in each category. From the opinions in the GPPD section in particular, it seems like there are a lot of posters who sound like they’ve never played the sport and maybe watch tennis oniy on TV. Probably those posting in the other sections like Equipment, League, Tips, Health etc. play the sport.

You went into GPPD and lived to tell about it? You got lucky.

This was the exact catalyst for the poll. Several of us had some backwater channel discussions and this always comes up when I meet TTW members to play - just how, well...off some of the comments are from even a basic level of understanding tennis play. So the assumption was, there were a lot of fans out there commenting that do not have a great deal of experience playing tennis. Not that it is a bad thing. We have a whole bunch of Internet economists, doctors, educators, and scientist now that can supplant career experts in their fields with decades of personal experience, and centuries of data with a 30 second TikTok post. Heck, we have a whole governmental cabinet of it.

Anyway, all that here goes waaaay back, where I remember all the posts about "how to beat Nadal on clay" and other amazing nuggets. :p

I am very interested in the takes of the users who declared that they never played tennis.
I would like to ask, especially to the ones that post regularly, what has brought them here.

Could it be something like the way I like to watch F1 but have never raced a car in my life?

Not always … and difference between baseline power and kitchen pop. Keep up.

  • 14mm paddles are thinner, more maneuverable, and generate more "pop" due to their aerodynamic shape.
  • 16mm paddles have a slightly thicker core, providing more control, a dampened feel, and a softer touch.
  • Beginners may benefit from the extra pop of 14mm paddles, while advanced players may prefer the control and touch of 16mm paddles.

Beginners may pop up dinks at kitchen with poppy paddles and have wiffle marks all over their body.

Hey Poly, somewhere I read (can't find it again) that the Onyx Z5 widebody I use is only 11 mm thick?

As you know, I have applied lead all around and then another head tape layer all around to increase the weight.

Can you send me a top of the line latest paddle for free? I can't justify spending money for this stupid sport that I don't like (even though I won both games last Friday).

Sorry, my 401k is now a 01k … will be selling my paddles for food.
