Do you put Andy Murray at same tier as Edberg/Wilander/Becker?

I agree. Winning 3 slams per year was not possible for the 90s.
But I feel Pete should have had some more 2 slam years and maybe should have had one 3 slam year.

1994 USO
1996 AO
1997 USO
1998 AO
1998 USO

2-3 slams of these had he picked it would have looked better for his peak level dominance I feel

There were a few occasions when Sampras did hold 3 out of 4 majors at a given time. Sampras won 3 in a row with 1993 Wimbledon, 1993 US Open and 1994 Australian Open, before losing to Courier in the quarter finals of the 1994 French Open. Sampras also won 1994 Wimbledon, so kept the "holding 3 majors" run going until he lost to Yzaga at the 1994 US Open. Sampras later won 1996 US Open, 1997 Australian Open and 1997 Wimbledon to hold 3 of the 4 majors, and then lost to Korda at the 1997 US Open.

Given he had shown his clay credentials by winning Rome did it ever irk Sampras that he could never even make the final of RG not even in the same year he won Rome (1994)?

I think it did for a while. Some tough competition on the clay with the form Bruguera and Medvedev were showing at the time. However, Sampras was probably at the peak of his powers results wise at the time he won the 1994 Italian Open in Rome (with Vitas Gerulaitis coaching him that week). The pressure to win the 1994 French Open in order to hold all 4 majors at the same time was obviously great. Sampras usually had a very good record against Courier, but Courier won a close 4-set quarter final, which was probably Courier's best match performance of 1994 as Courier was generally on the slide that year.

Some people say that Sampras' 1996 French Open run, beating Courier in a 5-set quarter final from 2 sets down, before losing to Kafelnikov, was the reason he didn't win 1996 Wimbledon, so Sampras prioritized Wimbledon every year after that. Maybe that's just an excuse to explain away Sampras' poor form at the French Open after 1996.
