Do you think this "part-time" tennis player thing is just an act from Kyrgios?

Nick loves to tell people that he's a part-time tennis player etc. But it's kind of like that one guy that tells everyone he never studied for exams and tells everyone to stop studying and enjoy life, but behind the scenes, he has been studying etc.

Essentially, what I'm trying to say is Nick = Keyser Soze?

If he has not done any training for 6-12 months after 2 matches he would have been so sore that he would not be able to walk straight. He is full of it.

It is not an act. The guy is going through something mentally, the kind of depression Social media and inability to handle public exposure bring. His not right in the mindset.

He is talented enough to beat good players without practice. BUT winning a GS requires much more though.

He hasnt played full time since covid? So no act id say. Obviously doesnt put in the same amount of off or on court training as the other guys ranked around his level are as well.

:-D:-D:-D I would have answered the OPs question but then I checked who the OP was. Your answer is way better. Trolls need this response. I guess giokovic fans are getting a little uncomfortable with st.nicks second round 8-B Kyrgios looks like the only one who can challenge Djokovic here. don't worry nole fans he won't make it to the finals.

Just as an aside, that's quite unexpected lol.

Not really, the guy plays like a junkballer on the return and seems to go to the net quite a bit on his serve games (UE stats for netplay are always generous).

On the whole, his serve aside, Kyrgios doesn't really blow people off court. Not nearly as much as people think anyway.

Would have had even fewer UEs had he dropped those between legs shots...

He's been playing a balanced game so far in Wimbledon; patient, wise rallying - mixing it up a fair bit. He's a breath of fresh air in the field. The crowd loved the match with him and Humbert, despite TT experts' merciless verdicts :)

Not only the crowd. Peter Fleming was commentating the stream I watched and was lapping it up. "Box Office" was the term he kept using.

People kept saying it was "consistent low level mugging" and stuff like that... and it was fantastic to watch! I mean, Humbert would have won against 100 of the other 127 in the draw in that match. Kyrgios was just a hair better... Hope Kyrgios can maintain his focus and play tennis.

Maintain focus? Come on, this is Nick.

I think you're selling Ugo short with that 100 out of 127 number.

Grass is a field that can allow non trained players to perform.
Nothing surprising here considering how the surface...
Yes, of course, an untrained player hitting 48 winners and 29 aces, absolutely nothing special. I can probably hit the same if I played on this grass.

It's not an act!

NK truly feels he does not have the body/genetics for modern day tennis, which has become an endurance sport.

He feels he truly tried to get fit some years back, putting in the time on and off the court, and was not really rewarded with any lasting gains yet often came up injured.

So now he's like, 'F it'. He can still make a decent living doing what he's doing now.

I like Nick, but his shtick is becoming very boring.

He just doesn't have the necessary personality to roll with this "bad boy"/outcast/desperado persona.

It’s because the grass field has been absolute trash for 20 years. A bunch of college players have a good as chance of coming in and pulling a couple of upsets at Wimbledon. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was djokovic against some mug in the final. I mean outside of djokovic, Federer (and on and off Nadal once in a blue moon) who the hell else is there? LOL
