I'm a Sampras fan and I definitely don't want fed to tie with Sampras at Wimbledon much less make the final of it. But it seems no one can stand in his way to the final, and if Murray takes out Nadal in the semis he will be a lock for the title. Can anyone actually imagine Murray winning Wimbledon over Federer? a 1st time wimbledon finalist who has been whipped by Federer in his other 2 grandslam finals vs the 7 time finalist who has won 6 of them and defending champion on his best surface.

I doubt Murray will beat Nadal in the first place though, seeming as how he was whipped by Nadal in 08'.

I do not want him to, but he might.not sure robin's big game is working well enough at the moment to take out murray and surely murray could take nadal. in a slam final vs fed you gotta wonder about murray's mental toughness

I think Murray has a good shot at beating Nadal should Nadal beat Soderling. Murray has beat Nadal twice in slams recently and seems to know how to play him.

I have no problem with federer winning. That being said, i prefer if Nadal won. If not Nadal, then Murray or Djoker. Murray because i kinda feel bad for him as he has so much media pressure, would be nice to see him win his first major, i bet he'd be releived. I dont like some of the comments Djoker makes but he is an immensely talented player, and a win at wimbledon would put his carrear back on track. He really hasnt been a grandslam threat since the start of 09 and he's the type of player who may well end his carrear as an underachiever. I hope he realises his potential.

I understand Murray or Djoker but how could you root for Nadal. That guy is terrible for tennis. His game is boring and he's always whining about injuries.

I would prefer Nadal to win, but I'm not bothered about the prospect of Federer winning. I'm just hoping for another Federer/Nadal final.

That guy is terrible for tennis.

If it weren't for Nadal then Federer would have won 11 slams in a row, then gone out in the semis of the '08 AO, then won the next 6 slams.

One player winning 17 out of 18 slams would have been terrible for tennis. Nadal saved tennis.

Nadals game is "boring", yet andy is an "exciting player" right? lol. Besides i like a player who can play both offense and defense. If you've been watching Nadal more closely this year, you can see that he is hitting through the ball alot more and is hitting more winners then he has in the past. He is taking control of points more often, using the forehand dtl more often, attacking etc. Ofcourse he still counter punches alot but i personally have no problem with that. To me he can play both offense and defense and i like that in a player. Most people only like great offense like roger. I guess i am just different.

I would have loved to see that kind of domination from someone with Federer's game. You would never have witnessed something like that again.

Federer would not have won the 2008 French. He was playing horrible at that event, and Djokovic was in much better form.

In my opinion offense is entertaining. Federer ripping inside out forehands left and right is incredible to watch. Watching a guy moonball until an error is the worst. It reminds me of those crappy Lendl finals from the 80's. I'm not a fan of Murray's game either as he's way too passive. Djokovic is a decent player to watch.

Maybe Nadal just never got the memo to be a lapdog for Federer like most of the rest of the tour from '05-'08.

If that disappoints you then fair enough, but I'm grateful for it. They play very differently, but they both play great. I'm at a loss as to why anyone wouldn't enjoy watching either of them.

Nadal's too passive for my liking. To each their own.

are you a boxing fan by any chance?

Huge boxing fan. If you're about to ask if I'm a Mayweather fan the answer is no, again to his passiveness and lack of risk taking. In my opinion he's too content to just potshot to victory. My favorite fighters are not brawlers however. I enjoy skilled offensive tacticians. My favoritite fighter is Juan Manuel Marquez.

Do I want Federer to win?...Well I dunno about that, but him tieing up the Sampras Wimbledon record would be deserving imo, because both players represent two different aspects of tennis, one being a classic s&v while the other being an excellent baseliner and generally having a great all-court game.

But I think I would like Murray to win it much more. I simply love his game on the fast surfaces because he can handle the pace so well, plus he has been displaying some great tennis so far. I did predict a Murray - Federer final before the Wimbledon, so I just might be right this time.

I would prefer that Soderling beats Nadal in the quarters tomorrow, simply because his game is much more compatible with this surface and would look much better, but Nadal is a tough competitor so you never know.

i am a big boxing fan too. I dont like Mayweather, not because of his style, but because of his cocky attitude and him "retiring" every year. I am more of a pacman fan myself. I do enjoy offense but there are brilliant defensive fighters i also always enjoyed watching. Like Sweet Pea and Willie Pep:)

Yeah Whitaker was a great boxer but I just can't get into his fights. Pacquiao is an exciting fighter to watch, he's carrying the sport right now. His fights with Marquez were great. I hope him and Floyd finally match up.

If Murray doesn't make the final then I'll be rooting for Federer 100%

If he does then I'll be facing an awkward dilemma: do I want Federer to equal Pete's record or do I want Murray to end the British tennis Grand Slam drought? I'd never rooted for Murray until this year's Australian Open but I found myself growing to like him round after round.

When I saw how upset he was during his runner-up speech and how badly he wanted to win/thought he would win... I was a fan.

I've got a feeling I'll be rooting for Murray if it happened :o

Oh cmon, we want Fed to win because he is the best ever and we will not see him able to win tourneys without a lot of luck soon.

So in reality, you are asking a much different question: Do you want Fed to be washed up?

i want nalbandian to win wimbledon!!

i do want federer to win, now that andy roddick has lost. i was really gunning for him the last two years. it's a pity he went out, because i wanted the djokovic-roddick qf and fed-roddick sf rematch.

but, i am a federer fan so of course i want him to win wimbledon!!! tie sampras' record. there are other players out there who i root for, too, and i wouldn't mind them winning, either.

i also used to dislike murray and now want him to make the sf if he meets nadal . . . that would be a great sf, hopefully without nadal retiring this time. i think when these two meet there is some fantastic tennis. if murray played like in the AO qf that all the time i would be a bigger fan, tbh. so yeah. i will root for murray, too, and if he meets fed in the final   maybe i will even root for him then! never thought i'd see the day.

I'd rather Murray win, I think if he wins his first slam he will stop being a baby and win many more

At least your an honest Sampras jock sniffer - that's a change of pace around here.

Can anyone actually imagine Murray winning Wimbledon over Federer?
I can. Because I have to believe he won't be dumb enough to get sucked in and just play passive tennis - he'll go for shots - and thus have the proverbial 'puncher's chance.' Just wouldn't bet a dime on it though :)

I just want Fed to put the record far, far out. If someone is going to break it, make them earn it.

My first choice is Nadal, because he's the most awesome fighter out there.

Then, Djokovic because he is talented and fun to watch.

Then, Murray because of his long drought

Then, Berdych because I like his game and that would be a Cinderella story.

What? No love for Lu? Now THAT would be a "Cinderella story". :)

Manny's a congressman now lol......

True, but I'm not that familiar with Lu. I'd rather see those that have been fighting it out for us for the last few years win.
Hmmm....but Lu is one of the oldest players left in the tournament (he turns 27 next month) and turned pro back in 2001.

I've seen his name, but hadn't seen him. It would depend on who he was playing and what rounds he went out in. In regular tournaments they usually only televise the semis and the finals. If he didn't make a lot of those I wouldn't see him. And, if he didn't play other players that I like to watch I usually pass on those matches too. I heard them reference Roddick, but I don't watch Roddick much. It really depends on who he plays.

I didn't realize he was that old. I usually remember faces very well, but he didn't look familiar to me. Neither did Petschner's, although I've seen his name a lot too. Oh, and Haase. After the first round Rafa's draw was unfamiliar to me.
