Do you wear your tennis shoes until you get HOLES on the sole?

I'm just curious when people stop wearing their trusty shoes. In my case, I stop wearing when approx. half of the sole becomes smoothed out. When this happens, I feel like there's nothing between the ground and my feet, and it kinda hurts. And because I stop before I make some holes on the sole, I was never successful in getting the warranty deal

So... how about you guys?? :) (it might be a good idea to post some pics)

I stop wearing them after:

a) I get a hole in the shoe
b) I slide way too far on clay meaning the sole has lost most of its traction

I wear mine until there's a hole (as in, "hey, I can see my sock") or if it's time to turn them in for warranty. The hole has always formed first for me

Man, it seems like you're always around on this forum lol
Anyway, I hope I can get some holes before I stop wearing my shoes so that I can get some warranty rewards

Do you always get a hole before warranty expires? My shoes always get smoothed-out soles, leading to unwanted slides even on hard courts. I then stop wearing because I don't want to injure myself

I wear them till the supports are useless. Even if the soles are good, if the supports gone, why risk injuring your ankle?

I would like to try shoegoo, but doesn't it work ONLY IF there is a hole? I mean, shoegoo doesn't bring traction back, does it?

Shoegoo dries to a very soft rubber that wears through the next time you play tennis.
It may restore a pair of tennis shoes to something you can wear around the house or backyard.

Good observation. After 150 hours of use, depending on your weight and playing style, the cushioning and support in a shoe is pretty much used up whatever the external appearance. I toss out my shoes out with plenty of sole left because I have a very light step. But the breakdown is obvious.

Shoegoo is very helpful if a piece of something comes loose or you're taking in water. Once the shoegoo comes out, you'd better be looking for a new pair.

I wish I had access to some clay courts. Theyre almost non-existent in the DFW area. Only time Ive played on them was at John Newcombe's camp many years ago.

It depends on the kind of shoe I have, with my Propulse 2's I plan on wearing a hole through them so I can get a replacement pair, with my Nike CB 1.3's I just wear them until I get to the midsole

depends if i can afford new shoes. :( if i cant ill just wear em till they have holes. if i can ill wear it to the point where its about to rip through and get new ones.

If they fit well, I'll wear them until they have a hole in the sole. This is especially the case with shoes that have a warranty.

However, I won't wear a shoe if it is dangerously slick.
