All you have to do is answer the question.

My response: I like them very much. I am addicted to his music video collection DVD called "Playback".

My response: I can't listen to them-one of the worst Top-40 bands that I've ever heard, possibly just ahead of Loverboy. Absolutely no redeeming qualities-white noise is more tolerable. Is that good enough for you, Swanny?

Just kidding they're okay, but they are not as superior to the bands that signed with the label you know what. I watch the DVD when there is nothing good to watch.

It's interesting that I prefer Tom's solo albums in general (Wildflowers and Full Moon Fever are both great), but live I prefer him with the Heartbreakers. Maybe I just prefer Petty's songwriting, but I feel like perfomance wise he is better with the Heartbreakers.

Seen him/them live from when he was just a teenager in Gainesville. Top 5 North American rock performer IMO, slightly behind Jimi, Lynyrd Skynyrd (pre-crash), Neil Young and ABB (pre-cycle deaths).

Some very good songwriting. I like them and have an album; saw them in concert with Bob Dylan years ago. Good stuff; radio play hits. Damn the Torpedoes remains my favorite.

Do you like Huey Lewis & the News?

Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

Tom Petty is great if for no other reason than giving us the joy of hearing Mike Campbell for the last 40 years.
