not talking about the hallowed ultra tour, but the wilson ultra 100 tweener with the 74 RA stiffness rating. is anyone using it, and if so, how is the comfort? how does it compare to the pure drive? I have used both ‘18 and ‘21 pure drives.

obviously I’m interested in this racquet because it is blue.

Out of the 20+ rackets I have demoed this year, this is the worst racket I tried.

Negative power and very stiff. I can't really think of any reason for it to exist unless it's made to be played with multi or weighted up significantly but the balance is horrible too.

Doesn't play anything like a pure drive. More like a high spin control racket with 0 power.

I was on the playtest of the CV version a few years back. It was ok. It was stiff but not necessarily uncomfortable. It had tons of power, which was to be expected, and I remember being able to serve bombs with it. I will have to see if I can dig up my review.

What about the Instinct? It appears to be much less stiff... and it's blue. ;)

I was kind of interested in this racquet since it is said to suit people who have more of a horizontal swing. I haven't had a demo of one but several people at the club use the 100 v3. I may see if I can borrow one.

I actually liked the way this one hit, but it feels a little fat in the throat. It has more of a controlled hit than the PD, but just felt a little too chunky for me.

Thought the v3 was at least solid feeling and comfortable in my short period of demoing it. The power level is a bit hard to control, especially hitting flat.

I prefer by far the crisp and solid feel of the PD.
Recently demoed the Ultra 100 and honestly I found it looks and play like a granny stick. Stiff, bad feel, rocket launcher. And I’m not the kind of player that typically plays heavy soft thin beams, I can appreciate a PD too. This Ultra 100 was just not my cup of tea.

It's Ultra Fat... that is for sure.. decently tighter 16x19 string pattern..hides it's stiffness... But it's Ultra Fat...

I personally haven't used one but Mike Trice, who I've seen on the Essential Tennis Youtube matchplay videos looks like he switched to the newest Ultra 100 from previously using some version of the Clash so there are some people out there who like it.

It would be better if it would be thinner...
It's one of those rackets that gets in its own way...
The thickness is it's down fall..

I used the Ultra 100CV for a year as that is what was on sale that the pro shop recommended for me when I first started. After demo'ing many racquets I really hate the way it feels now. I switched to a blade as I got better as a player. It's very powerful, and very stiff. Big beam, not very maneuverable. Muted feel as well. Not much to say good about it other than I can serve faster flat serves with it than any other racquet.

A lot of professional players use Ultra, especially women.
Not sure of course if they use the CV version to further protect their arms or not.
