Does anyone think Fed might retire if he wins US open?

I agree.. He puts the slam record out of reach in the 20's possibly that will cement him..

But he stays at 15. Thats certainly breakable. Look at how fast 14 was broke. Only took 7 years . All it takes is for a player to dominate his/her era

He loves Tennis. He'll probably be 36 and still playing in the top 30 somewhere.

Since Madrid everything has changed for him, he has only lost 1 match in Montreal so far and a favourite to win USO 09. 15 SLAMS, Career slam and beating Nadal in their last meeting convincingly.

Having this kind of momentum and so little left to prove, taking care of his H2H with Nadal should be on top of his list to do before he retires.

If that is the case i really hope he starts avoiding or tanking in clay tournamnets as IMO he has nothing to prove there and while nadal isnt making hard court finals, its just not making a 'fair' H2H.

Ridiculous post. One can't take care of a H2H, anyone who understands tennis knows that rafa has been routinely not good enough to play federer on hardcourts with any frequency.

He should keep playing and winning whenever he can, but most importantly, keep saving his focus and real effort for the slams, which he has been doing for at least 2-3 years now.

Let him retire, I'd like to see what 85 percent of this forum will do when he's gone? Oh wait, bash Nadal. Since the mods seem to have no problem with that.

oh cry me a river. Most fed fans here don't have a problem with nadal, as far as I know. It's the nadal fans that are annoying, so they usually just rag on them, which I suppose is wrong too, but they way you guys whine and whine and whine, sometimes I think you deserve it.

and you act like federer doesn't get bashed all the time. Please whatever he does. if he wins, it's because his opponent choked, if he loses, he should retire. He's a crybaby, arrogant *******, and so on.

He will not retire. Rafa's major obstacles to being a GOAT candidate are his knees and Federer. Every year Federer plays makes it less and less likely that Nadal will reach 16 GS.

If Federer wins the US Open at 35 then maybe he will retire but he's far too young to retire now. He still has a good 7 years left.

ya why stop now he can milk his records to a point that 10 men put together could not match him.

He just looks like he's enjoying it way too much to retire. I think one of two things will drive him out, either if he stops having fun or he stops consistently winning. I suspect only the latter will drive him out, and I don't see it coming from boredom.

Yes, but think about how much losing at slams bothers him. It's scary to watch. I think he will avoid that and leave before in total decline. I must say though that 5 million dollar a year jobs, even 1 million, are not easy to find.

It is the family thing that is going to cause him to retire. He is used to having Mirka with him, but the logistics of including twin babies and nannies is going to become too much at some point. He might do that for slams but is not going to like playing mandatory events without a companion. No, his days are numbered, I think.
