Does Djokovic have an aura now?

HailDjokovic

Semi-Pro
Most players seem to lose before they step on the court. They spray unforced errors due to his deep balls and cannot clutch points that they should.
Nadal is also completely bowing down to Novak's powers and acknowledging what he is capable of. Everyone on tour is scared as hell of facing Novak. It used to be Fed that had this aura but now it seems to have transferred to Novak.

Pros look absolutely miserable facing him on the court

Novak is "that n****" let's be real. He's intimidating the guys now and it's worse than the elegant Fed at his peak because he smothers them with athleticism and deadly baseline power game rather than ballerina tactics. And worse than the Bull too, because Rafa never was as consistent.

I disagree my good friend @swordtennis

I've felt the aura and been calling for it since before mid 2015. Now I feel it's very very real.

Or are you being sarcastic?

But yeah, for my money he definitely has it and it's pretty frightening.

Would you say Novak has more, less, or similar swag to peak Tupac?

Lol. What am I supposed to say. Less "swag", more fear. I dunno.

You compared Novak to Deep Blue the other day.. or perhaps it was someone else. But right now, facing Djokovic feels like mortal super grandmasters trying to go up against the Komodo or Stockfish chess engines.

= lose.

It was me. I think Novak is closer to a computer than a human relative to this opponents though. He's "impregnable"

Really? No for real. possibly I might be over looking that aura. I tend not to focus on those things and I figure Djokovic needed 3 multi major seasons like Federer.

I have stated that 2015 might have forged Djokovic into a robot, mentally. Where he just might be unbeatable if he focused and motivated.

You are a Nole fan though and on the sceptical and paranoid side of things (to a healthy degree) when it comes to Djokovic, so you might be overlooking his aura and not quite realise just what a true all-time monster your fave player is becoming. I could be overstating it though.

In case you didn't get the above reference...

"I'm the best ever. I'm the most brutal and vicious, and most ruthless champion there's ever been. There's no one can stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No, I'm Alexander, he's no Alexander. I'm the best ever! There's never been anybody as ruthless! I'm Sonny Liston, I'm Jack Dempsey. There's no one like me. I'm from their cloth. There's no one that can match me. My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious. I want your heart! I want to eat his children! Praise be to Allah!" - Mike Tyson

Lennox Lewis and George Foreman would have koed Tyson. Tyson wanted no part of them. Tyson was a bit over hyped from the start. Teddy Atlas knows whats up. Lennox Lewis is the greatest heavyweight of all time.

I agree

Agree, although if Lennox and Tyson fought in the early to mid 90s it's possible Lewis would've got clocked at some stage - he was still somewhat green in that period. Lewis-Bowe would have been some fight, but Riddick wanted no part of Lennox. Lewis might be the best H2H heavyweight ever including the Klitschko bros also. Would Wilder KO Fury?

Quite possibly you might be right

The Nadal of boxing

Just a shame Lewis couldn't summon the spirit to give Vitali a rematch.

I think the biggest proof is in the recent admissions from Murray and Nadal, where they both basically sound utterly helpless when discussing their prospects against Djokovic. That sums it up.

He might have but Tyson never faced a heavyweight with the speed size talent skill power like Lewis. Lewis called him out to fight they fought another fighter. Tyson was not fighting stiff competition and he came at the perfect time. Larry was old and way out of prime. Tyson was undersized and if he did knock out lewis lewis would come back and knock him out. Young lewis was more vulnerable to the big blow than older lewis. When lewis was in the middle of his heavy weight reign he would have demolished tyson.
Team Tyson wanted nothing to do with george forman more than lewis even. George was the worst matchup ever for tyson. Tyson would have been blown out by giant uppercuts. Tyson was vulnerable to uppercuts.

I'd like to see Novak as a cocky 168 pound super middleweight who talks smack to opponents about their mammas and girlfriends and might have a shady past for the PC crowd (ala Floyd Mayweather)

Well maybe he is intimidating now. It does seem he almost wants to actually inflict pain with his game on Fed and Nadal when they play. That exho nadal and djokovic played was like wtf then the doha final was LIKE WHoa.

I am still pissed that ducker Bowe never mnned up to fight Lennox. would have Loved to see lennox knock him out.

Nice.

Imagine Novak wasn't married and also had a harem the way Floyd does, and he taunts the crowd just like him, it would be something, but the top 4 know whats best for business.

Yes he has an aura. He lost in AO14 and wasn't able to win a tournament. Then he was shaky in IW final after shaky start and came from set down to beat old man.
Then he blew the then world no1 away in Miami and has aura ever since.

Novak is the "HNIC"...basically...ballerina tactics?...Hahaha...

Federer had it at one point...Nadal had it on clay

Of course he has an aura.
He's been the gold standard of tennis for the last five years.

That doesn't mean he's unbeatable though - all it means is that someone will come along to raise the level of tennis and beat him.
Stan has already done this, both at Novak's best tournament, and also in his best year.

You have an aura when other good players fall apart regularly because they have to red-line just to have a chance to win. That's what Novak has now, and only losing to Wawrinka at RG last year just proves that Novak CAN be beaten, but only when he is not at his best and someone else is GOATING.

The aura fades when a great player, even when playing at his peak, finds that is no longer good enough to beat another player also playing at his peak. That's not yet happening.

The aura is real. All his closest rivals let alone the rest of the tour are intimated by the Djokaa.

he's got an aura such that even his opponents feel that he's invincible.

only federer and wawrinka would have some confidence in beating him.

the rest, well, they've already lost the match before it even started.

The fact that players half way around the world were in awe of what Djokovic did to Nadal just a few days ago, shows how much of an aura he is building up.

The current players on the tour have been whipped. It's up to the new generation to step up as they should as yet be unencumbered by the aura. The guys who have been at the top a while are just a little too used to being put in their place.

Djokovic is a beast who has it all. He is a few levels above everyone else. This question is easy to answer because it is corroborated by the stats.

YES

When someone is called robot, it's clear that there is a fear present. Although it was meant to have dehumanizing effect, it backfired to those who made it, so it added ferociousness to Novak's existing aura.

Novak's Defense is impregnable. Tyson was just in full WWE talk **** promo mode for that epic rant on Lewis. Past prime.

Not arguing that he would have beat him or anything. Just would have liked to see them fight at their best.

He has an aura, but it is the aura of a guy who will crush his opponents, if his best self shows up.

With Federer and other ATGs it was EVERY time they stepped on court.

It doesn't help that he was being dominant but to a different degree in the years of his dominance and that his dominance came relative late in his career.

Who has had a longer prime Novak or Federer or Sampras?

I want to see Novak putting Nick Krygios and other youngsters in their place. When is the draw for Australia announced ?
