Does Djokovic have the greatest Drop Shot of all time??

Go to any 2015 highlight and you'll see tons of drop shots. He maybe misses one out of every 6 or 7. In addition to that he employs it a lot more than everyone else, so it is hard to find a rhythm against him.

The only person I can think of with a drop with that much spin and consistency on a daily basis is federer(past and present)

I don't mean this to be a personal attack. I say this without any vitriol: this tells more about your (lack of) knowledge and awareness of drop-shots in the history of tennis than it tells us about Djokovic's drop-shot.

Yes, the only person you can think of. Maybe the greatest you have personally seen. Does Djokovic have the greatest Drop Shot of all time?? All-time?

Hilarious post. Thanks.

Totally agree. With Coria there is a certain genius (magical touch and strategic play). Djokovis just loves the drop shot and plays it to death. In early years it as a face palm moment whenever he tries but to his credit I guess having played so many he has gotten better both execution and selection. Lets just say he is like the John Starks of drop shots.

Very true.

He used to miss it all the time.

Like pretty much everything else, Djoker's drop shot is rock solid. I couldn't begin to guess who has the best. I'm not a drop shot expert.

My favorite drop shot of all-time was when Federer hit one on a service return. I've actually seen him do it twice.

Good one!

Of all time: of time that has passed, of time to come, of any time in an alternative universe, of all possible time-lines . . .

I will mention some excellent drop shot artists. Orantes, Santana, Tilden, Nastase, Laver, Gene Mayer, McEnroe, Chris Evert, Doris Hart, Pancho Segura, Rosewall. I've seen just about all of these players and sorry imo they are all better than Novak on the drop shot.

Djokovic's drop shot is okay and it certainly adds to his game and helps him.

Incidentally is there an alternate universe where I have the best drop shot of all time? No, I don't think so.

:confused:I thought it was a common known fact that Djoko has
- the best serve of all time
- the best forehand of all time
- the best return of all time
- the best BH of all time
- the best volleys of all time
- the best overhead of all time and of course
- the best drop shots of all time.

Seriously, I don't get why you guys are giving OP such a hard time, when he's just saying what everyone knows

It's been 5 days now that I have been watching tennis and I have to agree with you 100%. You seem to know more than myself about tennis, did Djokovic actually invent the drop shot ?

Obviously not, but you'd struggle to find a BH, drop shot, return and movement package from any other player.

Yeah, Andy Murray..

Except he has a better lob and more variety overall..

Yeah, Andy Murray..

But Djokovic does have a better forehand and second serve. Djokovic's first serve is also more dependable, whereas Andy's serve can be erratic. Andy does have better slices and volleys in my opinion, although Djokovic looks to have improved significantly in those departments recently.

Nah, Djokovic moves better than Murray and has a better BH. Agree with the lob though. Variety? Dunno about that, Murray's FH has always lacked something, and can't hurt you off the 2nd serve (Djokovic can).

It's even debatable whether Murray has a better first serve than Djokovic. Murray's serve is wildly erratic and his % drops if he goes for power. Djokovic has slightly less power, but more consistency.

BTW Djokovic volleys better than Murray, Murray at times is too defensive to even get to the net.

Murray's pretty close to him in all categories. The only one, where I would say Djoko has a decisive advantage is movement - but not by a mile.
You could argue that Murray has the slightly better DS, return and backhand without sounding like a lunatic though.

it only looks that way to you because of what unfolded yesterday, Gasquet stands 45 feet behind the baseline and isn't the fastest guy I've seen.
