If I started back playing tennis, I'd be thinking more about every shot, after playing pickleball. Likely, come forward and volley more as well.

As far as soft hands skills, I'd say no. The bounce height of a PB vs a tennis ball is huge.

So, no on the soft hands, yes on better tactics overall.

I’ve recently met several tennis players who also play pickleball, sometimes even after playing an hour of solid tennis! One A player I know said pickleball has definitely helped him with better tennis, such as footwork and positioning, angled shots, arm motion, watching the ball, continuation, lobbing, and running a lot if PB singles. When I played a bit of pickleball I noticed how low I had to get under the ball, react to balls with no pace, hit harder and through for smash shots, hit harder serves, and really watching much more intensely. Plus, it’s a LOT cheaper.

However, PB is so popular now there are huge lineups or competition to even get to play, especially if game matchups are all organized for players. Clubs everywhere are feeling the heat to either add or convert courts for pickleball. Most PB players play doubles, which some tennis players like myself don’t prefer. Singles pickleball also appears just too difficult or almost impossible to get some shots back from good PB players.

Got back into playing tennis after 5 months off it. I have been playing Pickleball sporadically in-between. Pickleball helped with my footwork and definitely on my net-game. First two times I played tennis this month and got to the net, I feel much more confident than before and hit the low backhand volleys much better than before. Only adjustment I needed was the launch of the strings. Other than that, every racketsport can complement each other.

I find the pickleball has helped my backcourt game more than net play
pickleball is slower pace and smaller court that I can run around my backhand and play my forehand most of the time on the return and ftom drives off the back court.

I think Pickleball teaches me not to always go for super strong forehands and backghands in tennis, but that's it's rather much more efficient to play shorter angles and change the pace using incoming ball speed better with re-directing it rather than trying to hit the ball back super strong.
