Does Luxilon 4G 125 and 4G 130 make any difference?

My son is a highly ranked junior breaking a lot of string. He plays with Luxilon 4G 125 (16L) and breaks a lot of strings. I’ve been told if I switch to 130 (16)he won’t break them as often. Can it actually make a difference in his game and the feel of the ball? He plays with a Wilson Pro Staff 97L and the 4G 125 (16L) is strung on both mains and crosses @ 48 lbs.

this racquet (light, stiff) string (stiff) combination for a junior player is pretty extreme.
how many hours till the strings break ?

Yes, there is a significant longevity differene between 1.25 vs 1.30 mm. I strung both for players and they would break the 1.25 in less than 10 hours, sometimes < 7 hours. The 1.30 mm would last at least 12 hours. These were spin effect frames. When I played 17 Ga vs 16 Ga polys, I experienced the same issue in 16x19 100 sq in frames. YMMV, but you should at least try a pack or 2 of the 1.30 mm.

Thank you. More specifically I was asking if my son would feel the difference between 125 & 130? I understand it’s a question to ask him, but he’s young so for him it’s all mental, wanted to know your thoughts, thank u

Same frame and 16 Ga should be strung at the same tension first trial. It may feel more muted. If your son complains, then adjust tension on the 2nd string job. 4G is so stiff, he may not notice the difference. The 97L is a fairly open patterned frame, so there is that. Keep in mind that the 16 Ga will be heavier than the 17 Ga by 1-2 grams, so SW difference may be noticed. He may like it. :sneaky:
