Does pickleball remind you of tennis with wooden racquets?

No.
Pickelball is more like ping pong.
- You're hitting a plastic wiffle ball and
- there's this stupid restrictive kitchen area (which takes away the fun of drop volleys or running to get the drop volley)
- .PB scoring is very unique.
It's not tennis at all.

On the other hand, Paddle tennis (pop tennis) resembles tennis a lot more.
-The game uses a deflated tennis ball.
- mini tennis court which PB adopted
- same scoring as tennis
- underhand serve or forehand
- no kitchen area. (you will get tagged at the net but your volley skills improve dramatically)
same for Padel in Europe. They use a real tennis ball, real scoring and allow you to hit a plastic wall.
Google it or watch on youtube. You'll thank me.

Absolutely not. PB is nothing like ping pong. Table tennis is an extremely fast sport requiring good hand-eye coordination, reading spin, and even foot work. The only thing PB requires is for the players to show up.

It definitely doesn't resemble tennis. Padel or Pop tennis represent tennis much better.

I wish more of the people posting over on the tennis side knew this simple truth. Pickleball was never intended to mimic tennis. It is its own sport. And (this former tennis player) is so glad to have tried it out. It's a ton of fun!

I've seen some videos of advanced players (former tennis players) in PB volleying and I get the fun factor. I wish I could find where and when they play and I'd probably join in.
When all you see are older folks and beginners PB doesn't look like fun.
If I do find some players I will not be changing my tennis fh to a PB fh. My strokes worked fine in paddle tennis (a paddle and deflated tennis ball).

~ the problem with paddle tennis is it brought on some serious tennis elbow. Once I stopped PT and went back to tennis it went away.

Use the same grips as tennis. Works fine.

Not at all. I got a woodie to try out and as a collectible ('Chris Evert autograph'). Turns out one can still swing it like a normal and heavy racquet, ( Sampras playing with a wooden racquet ),
and still requires regular tennis footwork, swing prep, and positioning. It also weighs at 376g, so far and away from a pickelball paddle more so than a typical modern racquet.
pickelball seems closer to pingpong than tennis imo.

When I told my (former) tennis buddies I was playing pickleball some of them would ask a lot of questions about it. I'd tell them, "Think table tennis -- but your standing ON the way over-sized table."

My 22 years old son was a 11.5 UTR tennis player and he plays PB almost everyday now. PB is his favorite sport after golf. According to him, PB is a great sport to pickup young women
