well.... i hope to find out. I am going to weight my old Wilson HH 4.3 OS to SW2 and see what I think. I need help though, because I am not sure how to do this..... Here are the specs:
-110 inch head
-27.5 length
-9.0 oz.
-301 SW
-14.37 inch balance (so around 7 pts HH i guess)
Soo, can anyone help me? I need to know how much lead to buy, and where to put it to get to SW2. Any help appreciated....thanks

thanks punisha! PS, eventually if I wanted to make the racquet more HL, where would you advise adding lead without messing w/ the SW?

Try this:

1. Add lead extending around the top 2/3 of the stringbed, starting from the 5th crossstring from the bottom (0.25" wide on both sides of stringbed). This will equal about 22" = 11g.

2. Add 3 layers of lead along both edges of grip, with each layer 7" long and 1" wide. By "edge" I mean the sides of the grip that face you when you set the racquet on its edge. So you will add about 3 x 2 x 7 = 42g under the grip.

3. "Tune" your swingweight by testing it out on court for groundstrokes. If underpowered, simply subtract weight in 0.5g increments from the 3 and 9 ends of the lead in the hoop. If overpowered, add weight at 12 o'clock in 0.5g increments until depth of shot is perfect when you take a high backswing and swing smooth without too much effort.

Total lead added: somewhere between 52 and 57 grams.

Final weight: ~11.6 oz. strung.
Final swingweight: 360-365

I don't fully understand where on the grip you mean, could you point it out on this pic?

Question, Travelerajm:

You advocate this high backswing, which is great, but what happens when you play against a hard-hitting opponent? You don't always have time to take such a backswing. Then what?

Most pro's have outstanding footwork which can get them in position for there ideal high backswing. When you dont have time, I guess all you can do is alter your swing or try harder to get in position.

Trav, do you mean the flatt side of the grip that would run and turn into the beam.... the one where the "V' your hand makes would make in a continental grip? The one facing you if you looked at it sideways?

By "edges" of the grip, I mean the side of the grip covered by the big white sticker, as well as the opposite side not visible.

thank you. Should the layers that are on the grip start at the bottom (conical) part of the grip and work up until you get to 7"?

Why does a high backswing take any more time than a low backswing? It doesn't.

The key is for the backswing to be high, but not necessarily bigger. You need to make sure that the racquet is above the ball. You can still do this with a compact backswing (the Agassi forehand and Nalbandian backhand are good examples of compact but high backswings).

Honestly, it won't make much difference if you start at the bottom or start at the top of the conical part. I usually start at the top of the conical part so that the lead is easier to apply.

okay, that makes things easier, thanks. I have only one more question and then I would understand fully, if the frame is underpowered..... do I take .5 g away from each side or .25 from each side equaling .5 total

It really doesn't matter. What matters is that you are able to hone in on the right swingweight. As you get closer to feeling perfect, then it's better to use smaller increments.

wait, so even on the backhand the racquet should start above the ball? I see. No wonder my trying to change to a safin like backhand gave me much better shots.

i dunno, just searches tennis racquet and it was on page two. Yah its a nice pj, it is basically a lighter Aeropro drive with siver instead of blue.

travlerajm, I notice I am putting quite a bit of weight in the handle... does this affect the SW or does it just make the frame more HL?
