Federer's game has always looked so fragile to me, I expect him to start making 30 consecutive errors anytime. Yet somehow he keeps winning tons of matches
With Djokovic or Nadal I never have this problem, they usually look rock-solid.
The fact that I'm a Federer fan maybe has to do with this. You'd probably find a few Djokovic/Nadal fans who experience the same when watching their player.
Some of his approach shots make me nervous.
This is actually a major problem for me.
In some ways it will be better once he retires as I will no longer have a dog in the fight and will be able to relax.
I always expect his shots to hit the net or go out.
Federer will go down in history as the Kobe Bryant of tennis.
Nadal will go down in history as the Michael Jordan of tennis.
Serena williams will go down as the oprah winfrey of tennis
Federer will go down in history as the Kobe Bryant of tennis.
Nadal will go down in history as the Michael Jordan of tennis.
Remind me again which one of these four Rafa has more of than Federer?
Achievements 17-6-302
Dominance 11/16 slams from 04-07, 237 consec. #1 weeks
Consistency 18/19 GS finals, outright consecutive F, SF, QF records.
Longevity Almost 1000 career wins, consistently in Top 10 for well more than a decade, still #2.
The only one of the four Nadal has any hope at all of matching, let alone exceeding, is achievements, and only the slams (6 WTF and 302 #1 weeks are out of the question).
Comparisons with MJ are unfair, Federer is far more dominant/more achieved.
And Serena is the Venus Williams of tennis.
Andre Agassi says Rafael Nadal should be considered the greatest tennis player ever, not Roger Federer.
Agassi made the comments in an interview with Singapore newspaper Straits Times, saying Nadal's achievements are more impressive because he has had to deal with tougher competition.
Federer has 17 Grand Slam titles to Nadal's 13, although the Spaniard leads his Swiss rival 23-10 in head-to-head meetings.
Agassi is quoted as saying that "I'd put Nadal No. 1, Federer No. 2," adding that "it's just remarkable to me what he has done, and he has done it all during Federer's prime."
"Nadal had to deal with Federer, [Novak] Djokovic, [Andy] Murray in the golden age of tennis," said Agassi, himself a former world No. 1. "He has done what he has done, and he's not done yet."
Firstservingman, you know nobody will care about Federer's little stat records if Nadal finishes with more slams (which he almost certainly will).
And Nadal already has a whole decade of slams (10 straight years) aka The Nadal Decade.
65 % titles and majors on clay alone. Clayboy can never eclipse an all court genius.
well clay is about 35% of the tour, so he has dominated like nobody that 35% of the tour and still has won titles everywhere... 1 AO (3 finals), 2USO (3 finals), 2 Wimbledon (5 finals) , 3 Indian wells (4 finals), 4 miami finals, 3 Canada m1000, 1 cincy,1 shangai/indoor madrid (2 finals), 1 paris final, 2 WTF finals, 1 olympic singles gold in HC.
Clay domination alone would put him top 5 of open era easily..
- 9 RG in a span of 10 years
- 8 MC (9 finals) in a span of 10 years
- 7 Rome (9 finals) in a span of 10 years
- 4 madrid (7 finals) in a span of 10 years
- 8 barcelona in a span of 10 years.
81 clay wins in a row...
shows that his clay domination is second to none... and yet he has won a lot outside that.

Kobe has missed more shots than any man in the history of basketball.
Federer has hit more unforced errors than any man in the history of tennis.
Everything you have highlighted is clay. If you are highlighting non clay finals, then include Fed's 5 FO finals as well. Compare his resume with Fed - 5+ finals at all majors, 4+ wins at 3 of the 4. 302 weeks at number 1...
All tennis legend like Borg, Sampras, Fed have domination on multiple surfaces.
Rafa will end his career as a clayboy unfortunately.

but I thought Federer was GOD?
I never know if he's gonna show up and start shanking every ball or JesusFed. He's so inconsistent! It's nerve-wracking I tell you. At least with Djokovic he's so super steady with his strokes, he hardly makes any errors. Very clean contact all the time.
I think another AO is probably out of the question.
Couple that with the rise of Nishikori, Kyrgios etc. and Rafa is not getting 18 or even 17 realistically.
Nadal has a great chance at 3 more French Opens (let's not forget, Djokovic was closer in 2013 than 2014), and I think Nadal has a huge chance at this year's AO.
One thing we know for sure, Federer won't stand in Nadal's way.
Federer will only help, by giving Nadal easy semis.
