I don't see a difference in Berdych. He'll do what he's always done. Be mid top ten in the world (a fantastic accomplishment), but the mentality is just not there. Never has been, never will be IMO.

And what is left to say about Ferrer? He's made the most of what he has. The guy he was playing today could take a few pointers.

Good week for both. Berdych has work to do but he showed what he can do. His new coaching staff has just started working with him and I'm sure they'll go over today's match to help Berdych not let that happen again.

And with that win, he has 607 wins, which is two away from Bjorn Borg. If he keeps up his normal win pace, he will pass Brian Gottfried for 13th all time.

Also just tied Harold Solomon for 33rd all time with 22 tournament wins.

I thought Berdych would win but I've made the mistake of betting on him in a final before, never again. TBF to Ferrer he played so good this week and fully deserved his win and H2H lead over birdman.

He lost so many close finals last year, Hamburg against Mayer (7/6 in the third), Cincinnati when he was dominating Federer for a part of the match, a final he should have won but choked vs. Murray.
It is his 1st title since Buenos aires at least now he does not have to worry about a 0 title season :D

You know you've had a pretty badass career when you go 1-5 in finals in one year, and it's called a decline, haha.

None of those records are the least bit surprising. He beats nuke servers because he cuts their aces in half AT WORST. Once that ball gets back in play, it's over.
 
Do you guys think Ferrer deserved to win judging by the fact that in the last game his presumed ace was actually out?
