Donald Young at the U.S. Open!

Donald play a recovering Gilles Simon - a former top 10 player. He was streaky at times and has a much faster serve. Flashy shot making and seems to like the net game. But does not have the smooth stroke motion of a top flight player however.

Not the same caliber of player as Simon is at present.

I not sure if he can get better then he is? What do you think?

Donald Young is just another player hyped up by the American media and fans. Sampras was your last great player, America. Get over it. At least you had a couple greats....Canada is as much of a joke at tennis as it is at every other sport except hockey.

So where are you, from Spain? Or are you just insulting your own country? You may have more pro tennis players than us, but that's all, unless you count the barbaric bull fighters.

Donald Young needs to practice his SERVE

Like this:

Hi, welcome to McDonald's, my name is Donald, how may I serve you?

Do you want fries with that??

America had more than a couple greats. And you never know, the Harrisons may be the next up and coming greats in tennis.

That being said, America does seem to have a basis mostly on serve speed.

Donald was horrible today, along with Oudin, and Gullickson last night. If these are the future of American tennis we are in trouble, at least Harrison, Capra, and Klahn give some hope.
Worse than Young today though was having to listen to Collins and some bimbo commentating.

I don't think Klahn is going to do a whole lot. His forehand and serve have hitches. Yes, he hits his forehand and backhand really hard, but he also had nothing to lose against Querry. I didn't like his serve and his forehand. I may be wrong and I hope I am, but I don't think Klahn is going to top 50 on the ATP list. Can't comment on Harrison. But he did improve since I saw him at IW in March playing Lubi. Harrison looked better today, but I still don't like it when he rushed his forehand.

No comments on the women tennis.

bull fighters are about the last thing from barbaric. I don't know if you've ever seen a bull fight, but it's not a rodeo.

Well we're actually pretty good at badminton and lacrosse and a handful of winter sports but you're otherwise right, we don't have much to offer when it comes to most mainstream sports. Donald young was hyped up a
lot by the us media, but there was a reason for the hype. He was a promising junior, you'd logically assume that someone with a great deal of promise in juniors will do something with that in the mens tour

Now why is it so many TT posters get off on imagining that black tennis players belong in McDonald's?
Stop talking about race, no one but you continue to refer to race. Just because people happen to comment on a player who happens to be black, you immediately assume that they are being racist. I remember you defending the Williams and now Young.

We are simply stating that young is not as good as the media hyped him to be. In the junior he was something else, but that didn't translate to the ATP. No one mentioned anything about black or white until you brought it up.

How did Canada get involved in this discussion. Leave us out of it man. :)

I will say Polansky has some game. He's still young. Rebecca Marino, who I never had heard of before, showed she could be a player on the WTA tour. She was out hitting Venus at times during the match.

Young is a good player. He showed outstanding potential against Simon. I think Young needs to get a coach like Stefanki and he will be a top 30 player in the world for years to come.

Young will never be a top 50 player. He has no serve, no power and no court smarts. All he has is speed and in todays game, that isn't nearly enough.

In regards to American tennis, it is very simple. Americans have won more tournaments, more majors and has the best results than any other country in the history of the game. There is not one country that even comes close to the U.S.

Australia? They utterly dominated from the mid-1950s to the early-1970s with a seemingly never-ending conveyer belt of great players. Rosewall, Hoad, Cooper, Fraser, Laver, Emerson, Roche, Stolle, Newcombe.

you forgot canada does very well considering their population size at the winter olympics. Canada won more gold medals this last olympics than any nation ever to play in the winter olympics.

Still confused how Canada got brought up. "American tennis blah blah, and Canada is even worse!" lol.

and DY showed potential as a Junior but he hasn't done anything since. The guy needs to do something soon or well.. he might be done.

I disagree Donald's more a carwash kind of guy

I don't think McDonalds's is a good fit for DY....he would look much more natural with a towel in his hand at the local car wash....:)

I know his results are pretty bad comparatively, but I've always thought his game had potential and still do.

What is all hinges on is if anything ever gets inside his head to change what's wrong. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.
