donnay pro one vs gamma 325

I really want to know which one is better for my game ... I like solid and heavy sticks .... I play a baseline game usually but also serve and volley .. I hit with medium topspin but more flat on the for hand.... on the back hand I use good amount of topspin (1hbh) . I have a big 110-120 flat serve for my first serve and kick serve for my second I also like to mix up with slice some times . I have a power game and need alot of control and I string my rackets around 63-65 lbs ... if you can please compare the two rackets and tell me the one that suites my game the best

I actually posted a thread with the same frames. The Pro One is a fairly flexible frame. If you can generate your own power and want the utmost control then go with the Donnay frame. The Gamma frame is stiffer and offers more power on your serve but a little less feel. The weight is slightly lighter as well. Both are great racquets to use so it's up to you to decide which is more important: power and speed on serve or control and feel.

thank you for helping out... so you are saying that gamma g325 has a little less control than donnay pro one .... and donnay frame has more feel than gamma g325 ... but gamma frame has more power on serves , is it serves only or ground strokes

The Gamma frame is more powerful overall on all strokes. Yes, it offers a stiffer feel but less feel overall than the Donnay. Since I generate more than enough power on my strokes I want control and feel. I'm hitting fewer aces but getting a higher percentage of serves in which result in service winners. I guess I can live with that. :)

slightly different opinion

I played them both for some time and like GOOSALA found the G325 to have a bit more power, but I also felt it provided better control and feel, especially when strung with a good multi in the lower range. Of the two I preferred the G325. The G325 seems lighter because it is more head-light and easier to swing, but strung it weighs in at 12oz.

You might want to try the Avery M3 control if you prefer a heavier racquet. The Avery is a little heavier , about 12.5, but is also headlight and easy to swing. It's stiffer than the G325 and has a little more 'pop'. A very nice stick if you can manage the weight for 3+ sets. I'm older and couldn't so I settled on the G325, and really think it is one of the most pleasant sticks I have used.

I liked the Donnay, but found it a little too head-heavy for me. It does have a great feel when striking the ball, but then so does the G325.

I favor the G325, but that's me ......

thanks for the input ced I want to know how would you compare the control of g325 and pro one ....

As you can see I favor the G325 as the best combination of control, power, feel for me. The major difference in the 2 racquets is in the balance ... the 325 is more head-light and is just easier to swing. If you prefer a more even balance then the Pro one would be your cup of tea.

The G325 is available at the Bird for $64/shipped (unstrung).

If you are a younger player you should try the Avery M3 Control, all 3 are nice players sticks, tho the Avery is a little $$$ unless you can pick one up here on the board.

I would rate the 3 racquets as follows:

POWER: Avery, Pro One, G325
CONTROL: G325, Pro One, Avery (all were very close)
SERVE/VOLLEY: Avery, G325, Pro One
FEEL: G325,Pro One, Avery (very subjective)

I have my 5th G325 in shipment as I type this .... once I started playing the 325 I quit racquet switching.

subjective

Both racquets are very LOW power in that you have to generate it yourself. The G325 has more 'pop' on the serve and the volley, but that is because of its balance ..... you can generate more racquet speed. The Donnay probably has more on groundstrokes from the backcourt, again the influence of racquet balance. The Avery I mentioned has more power than either from all points of the court.

Control is very close, in my experience I felt serves and volleys were more accurate with the G325. My groundstrokes were also better, but again it was/is racquet balance letting me get the racquet around. The Avery is also very easy to swing. A younger backcourt player may well favor the Pro One.

Both the Pro One and the G325 a flexible racquets, with the Pro One having a more muted feel. The Avery tho slightly stiffer is also a flexible racquet. All have a nice solid feel about them.

thanks ced . I did check out the avery racket but it is way too much for my budget ... I am 14 and get 30 bucks a month as pocket money and cant afford high priced rackets . It really helped me that you made a comparison of how each racket is in diffrent catagories . I dont care if a racket is head light since I could use lead tape to balance it . but I dont understand why you and goosala differ about g325 being less powerful than pro one and that pro one has more control than g325 . The reason I am asking alot of question is I cant demo since I am very short on cash .

stringing...

Unless you use gut, I don't think the G325 would play well strung much above 60. I normally string with multi's at the low end of the rec. tension (55)...usually with 53-mains and 57-crosses. I strung my Avery's the same way. My Pro Ones were strung a little tighter at 58-60.

The G325 is definitely a better doubles racquet.

That is just an opinion and you may feel free to ignore it.

I hit pretty flat and hit both 1h slice and 2h flat drive bh. Always try to move toward net .. hate top-spinners with a passion !

Email me at cdix@lavabit.com and I'll send you a G325 ..... I don't have any more Avery's or Donnay's.

I f you don't like it you can send it back ..... if you do like it , well keep it and keep hitting the lines !

I'd say go with the Donnay. Just demoed it, great stick. Gamma I thought was really nice too, but I just felt like the Donnay had a bit more spin and control.

probably right

2nd Serve is probably right about Donnay better to hit spin (and I assume he means top) with. Since I am a flat baller and slicer, I wouldn't know.

These racquets are very close in specs and power, feel and control are all going to be subjective and will depend a lot on the strings and string tensions.

Nether the Donnay nor the G325 are particularly powerful racquets.
