Don't remember a Top-10 losing in a GS after serving for the match 2x in a row

(Speaking about Tsitsipas/Coric's match) Maybe it already happened in the history of tennis but I don't remember it.

I was rooting hard for Coric, the match was qzite intense during the first 3 sets but I started losing hope after Tsitsipas won the 3rd. When there was 5-1 for Tsitsipas in the 4th set, I TURNED OFF THE TV. I went to my computer doing other things.

1h later I went looking for the programm of tomorrow (Saturday), I saw the live score and I almost choked with my tea when I saw the match wasn't over, there was 4-3 for Coric in the 5th set. I turned on my TV and watched the end and Coric won.

After Mladenovic's choke (6-1 5-1 and then 6-1 5-2 0-40) this must be one of the biggest choke ever in the ATP. Fritz's against Shapopalov was quite impressive too (5-2 for Fritz in the 4th set) but Tsitsipas vs Coric wins the gold Medal here. Totally flabbergarted that it happens to the World Number 6, who just won the ATP Finals and was #4 in this draw.

On top of that, Tsitsipas missed 6 MP. Including THREE IN A ROW on his serve, at 5-4. He also had the break in the 5th and missed several BP at 4-4 and again at 5-5 in the 5th set. I still can't believe what happened in this match.

I hope this will be a turning point in Coric's career. Such a wasted potential with all these injuries. The guy beat Nadal when he was 18, he beat Murray twice when he was at the top. He beat Federer twice, including in a final on grass. He can do a lot better than World number 30. This is most certainly his biggest win in a Slam against a top-10 player. He will face Thompson in the next round. Then probably Zverev in QF. If he is ready physically, this is a golden opportunity to reach the SF for him.

Best match of the tournament so far. If you have the opportuntity, watch the 4th and the 5th set. You may never see a top-10 choking in a GS in such big proportions again. :)

It’s a big win for Coric but let’s admit that the top 10 player last night choked a major supersized choke.

Tsitsipas choked the 40-0 game where he had three MPs and also the fifth set TB. Otherwise, I thought he played well, but Coric raised his level and played better. That’s why the match was so entertaining as I did not know who was going to win it until Tsitsipas had his 2nd DF to go down 2-4 in the TB. The commentators (Gilbert/Drysdale) on ESPN expected Thiem to play poorly in the fifth set after the way he lost the 4th, but he actually played well to take it to a TB.

Coric is the very epitome of a dangerous floater. Whilst rarely achieving much himself, he has the ability to stop others doing so. He can blow hot and cold but you have to be prepared whenever you come up against him.
