Doping at USO 2020

Are there any serious checks? Or are they more tolerant this year due to the unique circumstances? Some players look quite suspicious tbh.

There's no medical reason that they can't do their regular checks, but it is more onerous and time-consuming perhaps.

Who looks suspicious?
Just to mention the most obvious and least controversial: Putintseva with her rage bouts. Coric who sweating profusely after the first 5 minutes on court and had to change his underwear 7 times.

Anyone getting a noticeable competitive advantage? Or just just a sweat and anger edge?

Coric always sweats profusely . Djokovic has been angry even before .Putintseva had easy matches till now and lost to the first good player she faced.

I’m not in a position to know or accuse anyone. I’m just wondering if such checks, if any, are actually happening.

Again, I’m not accusing, just asking if checks are being done. Mind you, there are many performance enhancing substances that are perfectly legal, but can induce temper changes and abnormal sweating.

It depends which country you are living in.
Doping checks been less during Covid and it’s a problem.
Probably true. I have seen no data, but it would be interesting to see the # of out of competition tests.

However: The suggestion by the OP that testing at USO is less strict is absurd.

Putintseva is always like that, actually she looked more subdued this tournament. She must have cut back.
Still, it's pretty hard to believe her physique, especially her legs, which have the shape and definition of that of a powerlifter.

Another one I find extremely suspicious is Sukkari: massive deltoids, bulging traps, unbelievably defined back muscles, acne on her upper back. Those are usual characteristics of steroid use.

I’m not suggesting anything. I’m just asking an honest question. There could be no difference with previous events at all.

Agree about Sakkari, though she doesn’t seem to suffer from anger fits. She’s actually one of the most well behaved players in this tournament.

Actually, I find her great. Her tennis, her attitude, the lot. And I know she's a naturally athletic girl who trains extremely hard. Still, the shape of her upper body really gives me pause.

I think that doping tests aren't relevant in any sports. In tennis, it's always been a joke. And btw, can we still talk about "doping" in 2020? I'm not even sure… so they can all sleep peacefully. Those who get caught it's well err, really bad luck.

In her defense, her parents and grandparents were Olympians. That would suggest either great genetics or a family doping tradition. She’s probably alright.
