I cant say ı found it interesting really. Who would have give some serious attention to this after US Open seriously ???? For sure it is fake as well. Do you guys seriously believe players care about it as much as DC or something ???

Zverev decided to play LC instead of DC and got critizied from Becker and Pilic.
Seems these young guys care about money and prestige more than we think

Watching Fedal play dubs together was awesome. Some of you people have no heart. Two greatest players of our current generation playing together for first time is historical, not cringeworthy.

I really like the idea. I just hope World gets stronger over time to make it even. But even in the Ryder cup there have been years of dominance by one side or the other.

The event is not cringeworthy only the two fanbases are.

Hey, we have here member of the stuff who goes around and bashes people who dare to say something negative about importance of the LC:D

Just like comments who are bashing it because they don’t like Federer including his own fans due to it not fitting into their agenda.

The whole event has been loads of fun. The players look like they're having a blast. And the hashtag following the Fedal match is really touching- fans actually enjoying being able to cheer together for once.

However, if the tournament is to outlive the Fedal fun factor they're going to have to find a way of evening it up.

The Laver Cup is purely for entertainment, which is fine I suppose. But without someone like Roger pushing it I can't see other top players (who don't need the money) playing this regularly in the future. So perhaps you wind up having mostly players ranked #5 and lower participating which gives them a chance to earn some more dough.

So you think Federer is going to abandon the Laver Cup when he was the driving force?

It's the first year. If it keeps going it could become an event like the Ryder Cup is today, and the balance of power is going to shift over time.

Sure seems like the teams are into it and the players are not playing exhibition-style tennis.

He'll definitely play as long as he's still on tour. But after he's gone? I'm not so sure Nadal would keep playing or whoever is at the top of the sport has any incentive to play (i.e., no ranking points).

Federer can be involved with the Laver Cup besides just being a participant.

I mean Team Europe and Team World? Really, the concept of Laver Cup seems to condescend by equaling Europe with World especially considering Rod Laver is an Australian.
they are just trying to make it fair so it won't be lopsided. and I think another Exo like this where all the top guys get together is a good thing for the fans,,,Good Entertainment..... Tennis is a entertainment sport..

I find it rather good so far. Whats suprising is its not been treated like an exhibition as every match has been hard fought. Its great for our sport and it tops the 02 in London by a mile.

The difference between the WTF and the Laver Cup is that the former is the ATP players' job, the latter is entertainment.

Both events are their jobs because it promotes the game along with recognizing a ATG in the game. If the players care about the game of tennis and the competition, it is incentive to play both. The Laver Cup and at times the WTF are being discredited out of spite for a certain player.

Sign of the times, unfortunately. European players currently dominate tennis (every single member of the top 10 is from Europe)..
Well, not really - it's just injuries has warped the rankings of a bunch of players. Ordinarily Nishikori and Raonic would be in the top 10. And there are plenty of excellent non-European players in the top 30.

This year the LC was just hit with a stack of eligible player not being available so they had to resort to others who, on paper aren't really big moment players. A World team which looked like Nishikori, Kyrgios, Raonic, Sock, Del Potro would be a lot more compelling and hopefully we'll see it in the future.

Please stop, your agenda is too clear. The one’s trying to discredit the Laver Cup as a meaningless exhibition are doing out of spite for Federer and the attention it brings. The ATP tour can coexist with the Laver Cup, Davis Cup or Hopman Cup. These events no matter the format promotes competition and game which is ultimately a player’s job. The fact you brought out corporate rulebook just reinforces my point that the rejection of the Laver Cup is out of spite for Federer.

I had some doubts, but it is fun to see, and it is compelling. But, i am a team tennis fan who loves Davis Cup and college tennis. I even like wtt in small doses.

I do think the fact that it's headed up by RF and in honor of the great Rod Laver is a factor in its success. Or at least, in my perception of its prestige.

Not sure if i would be so into it if djoker spearheaded the Connors Cup. Or if muzza founded the Andre Cup.
Or if rafter, goran, or Guga conducted the Ashe, Sampras, or Edberg Cup.

The Davis Cup & Hopman Cup are sanctioned events in the calendar of the International Tennis Federation.
Players who want to qualify for the Olympic Games, have to participate in the Davis Cup.

Ha! Ha! my Laver Cup hate thread was deleted unfairly and being threatened to have my account deleted only proves that I was right about the agenda to discredit the Laver Cup purely because of Federer.

Laver was born in Australia, but has not lived there for many years. He has lived in the US for most of his life, by far.

See, a real fan of tennis would know that. What difference does it make that Rod Laver is Australian when it comes to the concept of Team Europe and Team World. The criticisms the Laver Cup are contrived and this is only the first time it’s been held.

Only people with Tennis Channel can watch it and no bars have Tennis Channel so basically here in Cabada nobody can watch it without paying specifically for that channel.

That's the strange part. They don't even want the audience. Appears only for the Sultans.

I find it awkward, uncomfortable to watch. I watched five minutes today and saw fifty fist pumps and come on, players look more pumped than when playing a slam. Who are they kidding?

He's still Australian...

Yes, that is correct. But not sure why this makes a difference. The venues for the Laver Cup will rotate between Europe and rest of the world. I pretty sure that smile on Mr. Laver’s indicates that he doesn’t mind it’s not being held in Australia right now.
