Double socks and shoes

Quick question: If a player starts to wear 2 socks, should they go up 1/2 size? Or stay the same?
Let's say just Nike socks and vapor 9.5 as an ex. Do you reccomend the user to try it out on their regular size before ordering a larger size?
Thanks, Happy Thanksgiving.
Eat in moderation... Maybe not..
On a side note, do the new vapor 9.5s seem bigger to you guys than the older versions? (When wearing)

The V9 locks my feet in better. The V9.5 feels lighter & quicker(lesser material used) It also depends on your foot. The V9.5 aren't narrow but fit medium width. It's not too wide to wear double socks but it also depends on how thick your socks are. I'm usually a 10 in shoes but I can fit a 10.5 but have to wear a slightly thinner sock under the main sock. IMO you should go 1/2 bigger then what you normally wear but again, it depends on the brand and how they measure their shoes/models.

Generally If you want to do double socks, you should go 1/2 size up.
There are exceptions for certain shoes such as LB, cage etc...
You specifically asked about vapor 9.5 so you need to go 1/2 size up.
Regarding on size, Regular vapor 9.5 size is same (either recent or older one) but Flyknit vapor is different.
TW suggested half size smaller for flyknit and I ordered two flyknit vapors (half size smaller) and regular vapor (normal size). I asked several people regarding on size of flyknit vapors but they had different opinions. Some people stayed and some people went down. I was a little worried and I received the shoes yesterday. When I tried, flyknit felt a little stiff but only needs some break-in period. I think I will be okay with half size smaller flyknit vapors. Actually I compared regular vapor and flyknit vapor. I found that regular vapor was longer because of half size bigger than flyknit but when I wear it. Both shoes felt same.

Sometimes If I see really good price on shoes which is half-size bigger, I buy those shoes and use double-layer Nike socks and fits well.

Thanks both of you.
I noticed between a red v9.5, a navy v9.5, a electric blue v9.5, and the recent burgundy/maroon v9.5, that the burgundy fits differently although all the shoes are the same size. It fits more roomy kinda. While the others fit normal and can tie it tightly while the burgundy has a limit on tying.
I do have the copa blue LB1.5s as well which I wear half size down.

To your knowledge, are the Nike cotton socks thinner than the Elites?

How are the flynits by the way?

You mean the regular cotton Nike socks that you usually buy at the stores right? Anyways, to me they are thicker than the Elites. It's better for me to wear two cotton Nike socks if I wear a 1/2 size bigger. The Elites are tighter fit so it's thinner to me. I would double in socks too if I were wearing the Elites. Maybe add in a thin cotton sock underneath the Elites.

Nike cotton socks are thinner in my opinion.
Also there are two different elite socks. One for basketball and the other for tennis elite tennis socks.
Elite tennis socks are slightly thinner but still have better cushion than cotton socks.
Elite tennis socks are better fit for tennis but too expensive (also less durable than basketball elite).

A little surprised by weight. Last time I weighted someone's flyknit and regular vapor, flyknit was lighter but when I weighted half size smaller flyknit and regular vapor, regular vapor was lighter???

I am not sure I will wear the shoes anytime soon because I always wear warranty shoes first.
I have several shoes under warranty until next March so I don't think I will wear flyknit vapor. I have over 30 pairs tennis shoes so it won't be anytime soon haha. Still have two-three pairs of vapor 7 and 8 so those will be first.

Just running around my house, flyknit has stiffer feeling like vapor 6 but slightly softer than vapor 6.
Somewhat reason, lighter feeling than regular vapor though.

I use WigWam cotton socks. I used Thorlo socks for years but my feet started slipping in them so I switched over to the cotton ones and have been happy with their longevity and comfort.

maybe I'm OCD, but even the thought of wearing 2 pairs of socks makes me feel sick. Slipping around everywhere, feet sweating like you are wearing plastic bags on your feet.

No thanks jeff.

Just buy the right shoe size.

Have worn two pairs of socks every time I'm on court since I was 12... Now 35. Absolute must in my opinion.

Not trying to derail the thread but I have some flyknits half size smaller as suggested and I absolutely hate them. The lacing is no where near as good as normal 9.5 imo

Shoes is very personal in terms of fit. I don't have any fit issues for most of shoes. I was hesitated when I saw TW recommendation and others said that they stayed with their sizes but in my case, half size down was totally okay.
it might be tough for consumers since I have not seen local stores carrying flyknit vapors yet so online order will be only option.
