Doubles Alleys (or not) for Singles Matches?

This may not be a burning issue, and I won't start an unscientific poll, but...

Do you like the look of the court without the doubles alleys, dislike it, or it really makes no difference to you?

For me, I'm in the dislike camp. Has anyone played on a court without the doubles lines? Was it hard to get used to, made no difference, or even preferable?

Last weekend I was playing on a clay court with double alleys, but the shadow from one of the lighting posts was lined up roughy along one of the singles sidelines. Several times I lined up to hit a dtl bh and missed wide because my brain saw the doubles sideline out of the corner of my eye and mistook it for the singles line that was obscured.

I've never had the pleasure of playing on a 'no doubles alley' court so can't comment from personal playing experience on this.
But I can comment on the ever-increasing number of pickleball lines that are appearing on tennis courts in my area that absolutely drive me insane! Talk about a sight distraction. :(

I remember watching some indoor tournaments in the 90's that didn't have the doubles alley, it looked kinda weird. I'm sure I would get used to it if ever they went that route, but it would take me a bit of time to adjust because the double alley has always been there, whether I watch or play tennis.

Same here. A majority of the public courts near me have them now.
