DQs at States/Sectionals

I was wondering when or why the rule was instigated that DQed players at championships such as States or Sectionals do not have to forfeit the matches they won. I seem to remember hearing something about this regarding a team from Texas, but I'm not certain. Does anyone know why the rules differ from local leagues to these championships? We had a team recently win States but have 2 players DQed. Had the matches won by those players been forfeited, then that team would have finished last or next to last instead of first. As it is, now the third or fourth best team will be going to Sectionals. Seems odd to me.

I do not know the answer, but the national regulations do provide two options that the sections can choose from:

1. Wait until the end before running dynamic calculations, the just DQ people but do not reverse match results.

2. Run dynamic calculations throught the championship and reverse match results of DQed winners.

So it is possible to DQ and reverse wins. I do not know if any sections choose option 2. However, option 1 is a whole lot easier to administer, so it wouldn't surprise me if that were a reason sections choose it. Plus it avoids them having to DQ someone who may have traveled hundreds or even thousands of miles to take part in the event, at considerable expense.

Yea, it just seems counterintuitive to DQ the people at the States level and then send a weaker team to Sectionals.

The Texas Situatio had more to do with Computer ated Players being DQ'ed, not a bunch of self-rated players.

When was this? Computer-rated players can no longer be dynamically DQed.

lol I was at the 2.5 nationals and it was such a joke...some of the guys could easily beat good 3.5 players.
