DR 98 compared to VCORE duel g 97 310

Hey folks. I am demoing the DR 98 now and really enjoying it. Also on my list is the VCORE Duel G 97 310. Just want some feedback from anyone who has used both. Will I see a significant drop in power n spin from the DR to the 310? The thin beam and traditional feel of the 310 is appealing and its roughly the same weight and balance. Be great to hear tour thoughts.

I have demoed the DR98 and it's a good racquet. I am a big fan of both Duel Gs and I have a 310 in my bag. Added a bit of weight to the handle and 2g @12. No, you wouldn't miss any power, just different launch angle and feel is better then DR. The 310 certainly has some power after you dial it in a bit. Highly playable stick that would be my day to day playing stick if I didn't play my Angell frames.

I have 2 Lime DR98s and just picked up 2 Tour F 97 310g (very similar spec to the Duel G). For my game (Eastern forehand and back, pretty traditional strokes, more of a flat-ish ball, and I like to swing out), I have found the DR98 to be a bit too powerful and inconsistent, hence looking for other options. I was climbing the tension ladder with the DR98s. Started at 53, went to 55, and would likely try 57 next with Synth Gut. I've tried to avoid Poly, as I was having arm issues, but may need to re-assess, as I bet a good poly would reign it in a bit. The frame does have great pop when you get it dialed in and nice control, but I was finding I was second guessing myself and playing tentatively. That is my impression over a several month span of playing about 2-3 times a week.

I've put about 3 hours in so far with the Tour F. Strung at 45 with PTP. My arm has had no issues with Poly in this instance so far. My other Tour F has a different string and I almost immediately felt twinges. The PTP set-up is very comfortable. RacquetTune has it reading at 36 lbs, but it was not freshly strung when I received it, I don't think. Still have power, but it is much more in check and consistent. I am much more confident swinging out and it has a much more direct power curve in my mind. I'm really liking it so far and already thinking of parting ways with the DR, but don't want to jump to conclusions just yet. I also feel like I am more consistently getting good string on the ball with the Tour F with less mishits than with the DR98. The head shape is different, which I think is a factor there. Tour F = more rectangular/oval, DR98 = more square/round.

Both are very nice sticks. The DR I think takes the edge in the "get out of jail free" department because of that added pop and power. The Tour F is going to probably be more consistent and steady, not as much fireworks.

I see. Thanks for the input. The DR is great but cat get my serve dialed in. Little pop and everything is in the net. I have been playing with 12.4 oz frames for the last few years and the DR makes a lot of the game so much easier that it has me thinking of these tweener frames. I guess I'm hoping for the ease of use of the DR in the traditional set up of the DG 97

I like both sticks a lot (well done yonex) but slightly prefer Dr. Duel G is slightly more tempered but also sometimes a bit dead. Dr is more comfortable, its got more power when you want it. I feel like Yonex Dr is more unique than duel g. If you like Duel G there is great chance you will like Angell TC which in my opinion plays pretty similar to Duel G but its more solid. Duel G slightly feels hollow.

DR has higher trajectory than duel.
Unfortunately DR never worked for me.
Much prefer for Duel series.
It's up to your playing style.

Interesting about the TC frames. Never gave much thought to them. You use the 16x19 or the 18x20??

Yes, Dr has higher trajectory on paper however it is still pretty natural and tempered. I am more 18x20 guy. Blades and prestige 18x20 are my usual choices. With those racquets I am usually using 1.20 gauges. 1.25 maaybe. With Dr and 16x19 pattern you can take 1.30 gauge and get similar response to the 18x20 patterns with 1.20 gauge. Well thats my opinion.

1.25 yonex poly tour pro produced much higher trajectory than 1.23 ultra cable. Strings are important, gauge, tension. Different racquets may respond differently to other strings.
