Dr Rafael Nadal

G.O.A.T.
The GOAT Rafa Nadal has become the 1st Athlete of all time to receive an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Salamanca, and one would think others in other countries will now rush to have the honour of being linked with the Greatest Athlete of All Time.

Absolutely wonderful and it warrants being on the main board as its a huge moment for the sport of tennis as it puts our sport at the forefront.

People who have honorary doctorates can't use the title of "Dr" so it's still "Mr Rafael Nadal".
Mr for a doctor, which Nadal now is, is more prestigious than Dr in the title, GPP's are Dr's, Consultants are Mr and Consultants are greater than GP's. So all good for Rafa.

If there was a course on how to win Roland Garos, Rafa would just be studied as a religious diety at this point. You could get a PhD in, "Gods of the French Open in the 21st century"

Rafa can't use the title 'Dr.' before his name, but the commemorative plaque commissioned by the University of Salamanca and to be placed on a wall of the university has 'Dr.' in front of Rafa's name:

By the way, this is Rafa's second honorary doctorate. He received his first doctorate in 2015.

I wonder why (some?) Rafa bashers are soooo obsessed with him.
...
I miss him. Not bashing him. Do you know the difference between bashing and reality? Accept the fact that he is FAR from perfect (just like the other two) and that he is INDEED doing a calm over, over and over again….

Rafa received tokens of honor, a ring and necklace among them, at his investiture ceremony:

Here, he is wearing his doctoral ring while signing autographs for fans in the univerity's yard after the investiture ceremony that was held indoors:

It would be great to see him wearing the ring regularly. :)

Since Rafa Nadal has been distinguished with the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Sports Merit, Spain's highest sporting distinction. From now on, he’ll be addressed as 'His Excellency Rafael Nadal Parera'. He could of course be introduced as 'His Excellency, the Marquis of Llevant de Mallorca.' I doubt he would choose to use either.

Rafa is entitled to wear the coronet of Marquess of Llevant de Mallorca, showing his rank, but I doubt it physically exists:
