and Sinner is seriously risking to loose the #1 ranking as Carlos has to defend close to nothing in this end of the season. I guess focus will be on the US Open

It doesn't seem like he needs much of a warmup given how well he played coming out of his suspension. Stinks for the tournament though as you would like to see all the best players participate in the 1000 events. As for Draper this isn't great news following the disappointment of his Wimbledon performance. Hopefully he can come back healthy and get back on track.

I think it makes sense for both players.

Djokovic pulled up lame at the end of Wimbledon and might need more recovery time. Getting an extra week could be just what he needs.

As for Sinner, he's been the most consistent player on tour, especially on hard courts. The chances of him getting upset early in Cincy are very low. And he was also suspended for 3 months and then immediately made the final his 1st tournament back in Rome with no match practice. He could probably skip both Can-Cincy and still do just fine in New York since his floor is so much higher than the rest of the tour these days.

I think it makes some sort of sense for Djokovic but very little sense for Sinner, who wouldn’t be overplaying even if he won both Canada and Cincinnati.
