Drill Flash: Effects....

A.T.S.

Semi-Pro
Effects On:

Playability?

Durability?

Resale?

I got a flexpoint radical OS(strung with Heead rip control 55lbs) from a local(well pretty far actually) pro shop and I hit with it and I noticed a rattling sound. I though it was a crack but usually when its cracked the rattling doesnt travel from one end of the frame to the other. I read on an earlier thread that drill flash is debris left by drilling grommet holes so I assume that's wat it is.

Just need some feedback on the topics above. Also if anyone can tell me how to get it out that would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

i think the only effect would be mentally, if the sound bothers you. unless there's enough to make a weight difference, but that would be a lot.

You can usually get rid of drill flash by opening up the trap door on the butt cap and putting the racquet right side up. I've done this twice. If your racquet doesn't have a trap door, you can remove the grip and the butt cap and do the same thing.

I tried what you said without thinking and there was alot of drill flash(ALOT!) and it scattered all over my carpet. Little bits of metal in my carpet.

Has it solved the issue of vibration and sound? I hope so.

Yah it has but I had to add lead because there was so much drill flash that it added weight to the racket and I got use to it. Now that it's out it's too light, so I added more lead tape.

i'm surprised to hear that there was that much flash in there. hope you got all the little metal bits out of your carpet.

Was it a used racquet that you bought? I remember when I tried adding lead to my racquet, I was cheap and didn't want to buy the actual lead weights, so I used rolled up lead tape shoved into a cotton ball. Sometimes, little piece of lead would become dislodged and rattle around in my racquet. That might be the case if it was used.

If it's new, then Head screwed up really horridly when drilling that racquet.:p
