Dropshotovic vs Nadal

How do you think Novak’s relentless strategy of drop shots is going to play off against Rafa? Surely Nadal’s gotta practice getting to them, he’ll be doing it all match. And Djokovic has tread lightly with that strategy. Besides himself, Nadal is probably the next quickest on tour. He gets to a lot of balls as well.

Will this tactic prevail? Or will Nadal be able to see past it?

You think he will use it against Nadal the way he did against Khachanov for example?

By the way, I believe De Minaur is the quickest player on tour.

Seems it might work this time to mix it in, Nadal is not young and these balls play fast. At AO, it worked great.
Also how will the pressure of 20 majors make Nadal play?

Depends if he keeps dumping them in the net or not. :-D To be honest I think if Nadal is going to beat Novak he's going to have to go on the attack anyway, so hopefully he'll be looking to get inside anyway and thus the dropshot will not be something Novak needs to go with.

The moment Djokovic starts playing drop-shots against Nadal he's long gone in the match.

The ONLY way to beat Rafael Nadal in a Clay Court match is to paint the lines routinely for a couple of hours.

In fact out of Rafa's 40 defeats on Clay i don't remember a single one where the opponent use drop-shots as an effective winning strategy.

In their '18 Wimbledon SF, it was Nadal who played more drop shots, some of which were real beauties.

Nadal plays further from the BL, so it'd make sense for Djokovic to play more drop shots!
