***Dunlop Aerogel 1hundred (AG100) club***

False, I'm pretty sure that some lead will solve most of your current problems.

But I'd try lead @3&9 before @12. Just an opinion;)

Just getting back into the game after a over a year off. I used my AG100 yesterday and it's just as comfortable as ever. :) And I'm glad to see that this thread is still continuing!

Dunlop 100---Tournament play?

Anyone have success using the Dunlop 100 in competitive tournament play (B thru Open level)?

If yes, what string/tension/weighting setup are you using...Thanks!

I'm glad that the 4D100 kept this serving 'ability' the old AG100 has. It serves huge as well.

Not having much luck with this frame. Added 8 grams to the handle, wilson leather, 8 grams at 3 and 9 and 4 grams at 12, still too unstable for me. Any suggestions?

Just made the big switch from PSL GT to B100. There's so much activity happening in this thread and I'm glad I'm learning a lot from it. It's amazing that so many of us actually love this stick 'coz in my club I'm the only one swinging a 90 frame. Mine is leaded up 6g. @3&9. Experienced arm/shoulder pain in my previous string setup. Switched to arm friendly strings and dropped tension little bit to correct. Hope it works. More power to you guys. Keep it coming!!

For you guys who have asked, I've been using Hyperion 1.18 mains Scorpion 1.22 crosses, @51 lbs.

Now I'm testing VS/Scorpion, still need to find the eprfect setup( tension and lead ), but it felt very nice. Lots of feel while keeping control.

I've been playing competitively, both in club rankings and state tourneys.

Still adjusting to VS/Scorpion. Also, still searching for the 'perfect' poly for the cross. Will try Cyber Flash and Silverstring. Though I might be using the best poly for me already. Who knows?

Well, this weekend I tried playing with 6g @3&9, instead of the usual 5g, and although it felt nice and played nice, I lost considerably racquet speed, which made my shots suffer sometimes( getting late to the ball ).

I will retunr using 5g only, which felt nice already, but good thing is that the test was pretty valid.

Also, still undecided if I keep using 53/50 or raise a bit, up to 55/52 or 55/53. haven't tried the racquet with 55/52 yet.

This is exactly what it comes down to for me, DaD. I love the solid, heavy feel on my groundstrokes the tape provides. But head speed on serves is the first to go.

It's so important to remember that what works for one of us isn't necessarily the answer for all of us. So much depends on strength, fitness, and technical proficiency.

Tried my 4D100 with natty gut mains @ 60 and an RAB poly in crosses at 54. Still too lively, so I took out my other one which still has stock strings and it played much nicer. Need to cut out the gut/poly combo and try full Beast XP at around 55.

Still playing stock + overgrip + dampener and enjoying the extra racket head speed (other main sticks are the 4D200Tour and AG200 18x20). Don't know if it will last, but it's nice at the moment...

Damp, couldn't agree more with you. The only reason why I tried 1 extra gram is because the first time I tried gut/poly, I felt the racquet a little lighter than my former usual setup. I could even generate extra racquet speed, and could whip my 1HBH. But it didn't work well, so I'm going back to 5g.

Pimp, I think that if you're used to swing the 4D200Tour and the AG200, you'll feel lack of mass shortly. Btu what I like about the 4D100 is exactly that, plenty of room for customization. Before it, I didn't even know that I prefer playing depolarized racquets.

Btw, a friend of mine has the Bio100 for one month already. He felt that it swings heavier than his former AG100, and he felt stability right away. I liked that Dunlop seems to have finally heard our requests, but I've realized that I might keep my beloved 4D100s instead of updating the technology.

Badcall, I had settled on 5g @3&9, using full co-poly. But when I started playing with gut/poly, I thought the head was a bit lighter, so I added 1g. But I lost racquet speed and the racquet felt sluggish, which made me come back to 5g @3&9. Won't be changing that very soon. It's been perfect so far.

thanks for the quick response. is that a total of 5g or 5g at 3 and 5g at 9?

It's 5g total( 2.5g @ each side ). It plays a lot differently now, in stock form it even felt kinda boardy.

I've settled with 6g total at 3&9. Contemplated bumping it up to 8g, but decided not to, as I didn't want to lose manoeuverability.

6g also plays great. The stability and power is awesome, while keeping a high level of control. But my racquet speed began to suffer, specially while serving. Great that you can handle it, the heavier the better:D

my string set up for the 1Hundred

been playing with the 100's (both AG and 4D) for 18 months, tried a lot of strings/tension combinations . I have struggled to maintain depth on my returns, and pop on serves. I've tried gut (Babolat and Klip) mains with various poly crosses. Poly mains with Multi crosses.
Now I think I found a great playing hybrid that is also a fantastic value.
Polystar Energy mains (@53#) and Forten Sweet crosses (@55#).
Great buttery feel with what seems to me to be a larger sweet spot and plenty of controllable power. Feels great from the baseline , mid court and at the net.
Buy reels and string cost is less then $4/string job
Had to write since my wife is tired of hearing me talk about it

my AG100 is now at 363g and feels great. the head speed is still there a long with the serve. in fact the serve felt even better. after any hit i can feel the vibration going through the frame once i put my left hand around the neck. i haven't tried the 4D100 or the B100 yet, but i hope that has improved. nothing wrong just would be nicer.

if you guys learn to improve your serves better to regain your head speed, you'll love it. soooo much power. the weight just takes it!

What string gauge did you use for the hybrid?

A friend of mine has been testing the Bio100 for over a month now and told me that the SW seems to be greater than the AG100's. He doesn't even use lead tape and leather grip anymore( used to have both installed on the AG100 ).

Also, he said that it feels more solid and with a bigger SS. In his opinion, this iteration is much better than the previous 2( AG and 4D ).

Well, I don't plan to change my 7 4D100s soon, mostly because the setup I'm using now has been working perfectly.

But Dunlop seems to have heard the enormous number of claims to raise the SW.

I didn't like the Bio 100 compare to my AG100s.
lower SW and unstable.
AG100s play more lively, I didn't like the muted feel of Bio100
But Bio100 PJ awesome

i wish there were more mids, imo all the Dunlop mids are average, but still not as good as ps85 or Fischer vacum90, but better than the wilson 90s..

It's this kind of conflicting reports (and these aren't the first such cases I've heard about) that make the new BM100 such a mystery. Guess we USers will just have to wait until the darned things are available locally so we can all see for ourselves.

WOW...what a difference 5g makes. might have to drop to 4g after restringing.
sweet tho. :)

It does, doesn't it? ;)

I'm using 5g with gut/poly now, but if I have to return using copoly only, I think I'll drop to 4g as well, just to keep the racquet speed.

4d 100

Just acquired a 4D 100. Changed to leather grip and the string to RPM Blast 17 for Main & Sheep Micro 17 for Crosses. It plays differently than 4D300 or AG 300. It has more control but I need to have a litltle faster racquet head speed in order to generate depth.

Talked to a friend of mine, who works with Dunlop Rep, the mold of Bio 100 is exactly the 4D 100 ones. If that is the case the only differences are the HM6 Carbon and a new PJ.

Will post racquet's pix later.

KLE (and all), I'm not terribly surprised by that news. You have to try pretty hard to make distinctions between the AG100 and 4D100 (and even then, I suspect those distinctions are mostly perception or frame variance).

I can say this because I've owned and played with both for several years.

It's good marketing to make your customers think they're getting something new, even if only in the form of a different technology name or paint job.

I'm not suggesting the frames are identical, just that the improvements are likely minimal. Still, we all have our little quirks that make us gravitate toward one model or the other. I play mostly with the 4Ds. And if you asked me why, and I was completely honest about it, I'd tell you that I really didn't know for sure other than I just feel a little better holding the 4Ds. But if you stuck an AG in my hands, I wouldn't even be thinking about which model I was using after a few points.

All this said, errr typed, I still can't wait to get my hands on a BM100.

My 4D 100 w Head Leather Grip

Just find out that I have to have at least 50 posts in order to insert image in my post :(

I felt less vibration in my racquet when I changed to a Head leather grip. Also the racket seemed to have bigger sweet spot. 9 out of 10 hits felt like I was dead on the racquet's center ... creating a very nice pop sound. It is now 12 oz (340.2 gr).

No lead tape yet, therefore wondering should I do it or not and start putting it where. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Damp, you might also try the 200 Lite. Reminded me of the 100, and oddly, not at all like the 300 16x18.

ive got one coming in next week from TWE.. i use vantage racquets, i have both the vantage 90 and 95 but have been using the 90 lately, so should be interesting to compare. I've never tried a dunlop racquet before

I'm extending the AG100 using this method:
http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=308163

I've gotten one done already, and I'm not sure how many grams I've added (and I don't really care all that much ;)). I've played with extended length racquets for a long time now (~27.5"), I used an ultra-light prince frame back in the day that was 27.5", switched to a POG OS, then POG MID, then used Prince Changs @ 27.5" (cut down) for a while, then Dunlop 200G XL (hotmelt), PK Laver Type S, Fischer Pro Tour FT (27.4), then switched to the AG500 Tour, then now the AG100. I feel like the sweet spot isn't really where I want it, and I'm hoping the extra half inch will help. I'll be reporting back, but it looks like I'll be switching to the Bab Pure Storm Tour + soon... If this mod sways me back to the Dunlops, we'll see :)

Those BM200 Lites look pretty awesome, to be honest. If they came in a 27.5, it'd be pretty close to my ideal racquet.

be sure to let us know what you think of the racquet

I've just received it today, but i cant test it out for at least another week or so, sprained my ankle a few days ago

but here are a few photos

Customizing Bio 100

Been hitting with my BM-100 (stock) for over a month now. Tried different string set- ups at different string tension levels with poly/multi; multi/poly; and finally settled with gut main/multi cross @ 57/55 lbs. to eliminate shoulder and elbow pains. Coming from a PSL I was immediately falling in love with this stick.

Been experimenting with weights lately. Placed 3g. lead each at 3 & 9 o'clock to improve torsion stability. Did not place lead at 12 o'clock as I have a Gamma scratch guard taped over the full length of bumpers. This set-up produced more power, pop,and stability especially in the volleys, returns and service departments.

Now I am trying to bring this stick even to a higher level of performance (foot in mouth). Stripped off the Gecko grip, placed 3g. lead around handle 7" from butt, and put on a Babolat leather grip to enhance feel and to correct balance. Will find out if I'm right when I swing this stick this weekend.

Customizing this stick is driving me crazy. Possibilities are endless, results are awesome. Its like modifying a stock car for the next slalom. What a great Stick!!

Awesome pics Aimr. Can't wait till this racquet is available in the states. I might actually part with my AG's for it.

For those interested in the Biomimetic 100...

Hi gang,

I spoke to a Dunlop rep at Indian Wells and asked him when the BM100 would be available in the US. He told me Q4 in 2011 or in early 2012. He said he couldn't be certain, though, because those decisions are often in flux.

If he's right, we still have a wait in front of us.

Oh yeah, i can tell immediately just swinging it around that i will inevitably go down the route of adding lead too.. feels very light stock, particularly coming from my vantage with a 330g unstrung weight

I will obviously play it first stock and then see from there.. i might customise it to make it similar in static weight/balance to my vantages there after.

I ordered it to come unstrung as i like to string my own setup, but they sent it strung surprisingly.. came with dunlop silk. I usually string with full poly at lower tensions.. so will be interesting to try the full multi. Feels like its been strung pretty tight too
