Dunlop Aerogel 200 Club.

I just picked up an AG 200 for 60 dollars. I wanted a compliment to my 335, and this racquet so far has delivered. You can really rear back and crush the ball.

It feels amazing when you hit the ball..very smooth. I actually get more spin out of this racquet then I read in the reviews. I had to get used to that, but you can really drive the ball with topspin and have it pop off the court.

It has a much different feel at contact then the 335. I am still more accurate and comfortable with the 335, but after hitting with the 200, I got used to it, and was hitting consistently. It is very stable racquet, and I got a great deal on it.

Sign me up! I'm loving the AG200 right now..the 18x20 pattern really fits into my flat game, and flat serves are great with it!

I played the AE 200 (18x20) with the Luxilon Alu Power 16L(1.25mm) and 60lbs!

It is a great racket, fantastic!

At the other AE-Player: Do you use the Dunlop-Vibrationdampener with the racquet or not a dampener?

Thanks

Very similar set-up to me . Im using my AG200's with Alu at 56. PEFRECT!

I used to use the square dunlop dampener but now use the fire one from wilson.

No the dunlop logo dampener (personally) think it's horrible
doesnt do much for me

rubberbands or O damperners always

Which Dunlop-Dampeners are better?

The one I used was the first one and it still made a "ping" noise, the dampening only made a small margin of a difference
Idonno it still provides the feel but I like the Babolat Os and Pete Os better

Looking at dunlop 2 it looks like it would kill all feel of the ball

Hello,

why we heard, when the Profis (Blake, Federer etc.) play without a dampener a "ping" noise?

They didn't use a dampener, why we heard that we would use it?

Lately I've been demoing for a new, heftier racquet. Tried MG Prestige Mid along with the KBlade Tour, and though I preferred the KBlade I came to the conclusion that I am not quite good enough to be using a 93 sq in head.

Thus, today I will be demoing the AG200.

SWEET.

My demo of the 16x19 4d200 arrived yesterday and I've had a ball machine and a two sets with it, the 18x20 4d200, and the Prince O3 White I currently use. I've also tried the 4d300t, Exo3 Graphite 100, Speedport Pro White, and some others. Overall, I prefer the 4d200 18x20 - it's as comfortable as the O3 white, but crisper, more stable, and with better feel, too.

The 16x19 was an interesting contrast to the 18x20 - it's somewhat lighter (specs say 10g), and between that and the open pattern, a little less controlled and less stable (they were both strung with multifilament - the 16x19 strung probably about 4# tighter). If I was a racquet customizer, I might be tempted to lead up the 16x19 to give it some more stability (I liked it better than the 300), but stock I prefer the 18x20 to all the others and will be buying a few soon and stringing them with X1 biphase. What tensions are people stringing 4d200 18x20s at?

Patrick, where do you play? I am planning on demoing the 200 16z19 at some point. Good to hear your impressions.

Tennis Club of Albuquerque, mainly, though I'm taking lessons at Lobo Club now and liking that a lot. I'm a low 3.5 player at this point, but working hard to try and improve.

Ha ha! Me too - TCA anyway. We will see each other! I'll look for the Dunlop.

I heard a few minor comparisons between the 16x19 and the 18x20. How about weight and swingweight and other feel etc?
I tried a 200 18x200 today and am ready to buy, but curious if i should order 16x19 instead, which is what i tend to prefer. aerogel original, NOT 4d.

I would like to be part of this wonderful club racket.
My game was a big change after we started playing with ela.Ultimamente'm only thinking of placing them a few more grams.

thanks

Dunlop 4D A200 16x19:Kirschbaum Pro Line II @54/56 lbs

That seems low for a 95.? (I use these tensions in my AG100.)

Seems to be the hoop of the ag200 is pretty stiff so I've lowered my tension as well to 54lbs with a full bed of poly ranging from brands as cyberflash, unique big hitter, genesis black magic, and good old polylon.

Also, feeling very little amount of pain in my elbow from the AG200 after the demo, is that normal ? My elbow will adjust to the new racquet ?

Yes.. I got bad Tennis Elbow in my 2nd outing with AG200@ synthetic 58lbs.

I waited 4 months for my Elbow to heal slightly then lowered the tension to 56lbs and this time no pain but balls were spraying all over. Now I'm at 57lbs - I'm stuck at this tension. But the racket is great.

To Hoodjem or others who have used the AG200 16x19,

How is this frame for serving? Baselining?

I am a junior and love the control, power, spin and feel of the Wilson pro staff 6.0 and with a bit of lead on the handle and a leather grip the ag200 16x19 would have a similar spec.

If possible, can anyone compare the wilson with the dunlop?

Four months! Damn!

I'm at about one month now, and I'm hating it and itching to play!

I have made successful transition from 6.0 95 to AG200 16*19.
I added 6gs on the hoop and replaced the cushion grip with a leather grip.
With that setup, both racquets looks quite similar. I hardly felt any need to adjust swing style in rotating the two racquets.

However, there are some subtle differences.

1. AG200 feels firmer and has slightly more power off the baseline.
2. AG200's sweetspot is larger and positioned higher.
3. Both are great serving racquets, but to me, AG200 was easier to serve with.
4. AG200 has better directional control.
5. I volleyed better with 6.0 95.

mrmo I am suprised you prefer the 300 tour over the AG 200. The specs of the 300 tour seem abit on the light side.

I was actually looking for a lighter racquet that maintained the control of a heavier racquet... That was what I was looking for in a new racquet switching away from my Flexpoint Prestige MP. I felt that the 300 tour gave me some added pop and the same control, maybe a bit less.

Hey everybody,

i going to try and string my 200 AG with Wilson NXT Tour 17 @ 63lbs. Anybody have a similar setup to this? and what do you think it will perform with my setup???.

cheers, canuckfan72

Can anyone compare the AG 200 (18X20) to the FXP/Microgel Prestige MP???

I only hit with my friends AG200 briefly, and the plowthru and stability on returns was exceptional.

I own both... No comparison between the FXP/MG Prestige MP and the AG200 overall. The Prestiges are spin-friendly, but they can tend to get pushed around in heavy hitting. On the flip side, the AG200 is a heavyweight in terms of spin and hitting a heavy ball. I've got mine strung with Head Ultra Tour 16 @ 51 lbs. and I give my opponents all sorts of trouble.

thanks a lot diehard6.0, great help

i'm probably going to use the 6.0 till the end of the year then change. its great to know that the 200 is a good racquet to go to. hopefully they are still around then or at least the new model with leather an lead is just as good/similar to the 6.0.

Sign me up for the club. I have purchased 3 of the AG200 18x20 on clearance. Switched from PSTs, which got a little wild if I hit a hard flat ball. Since my wrist was starting to hurt from putting topspin on the ball on late shots, I went with a racket with less power so I could hit it flat or with topspin at my option. I'm still finding decent topspin with this racket when I have time to set up, but it is definitely more of a flat ball hitting racket. Serves are more consistent. Currently strung with Tecnifibre Multi-feel 17 at 60lbs, and that seems to work pretty well. I like it better than the racket strung with Klip Legend Gut 17 at 60lbs., which has surprisingly lost tension faster and is fraying quickly with little play. I hope this lasts, but really like the PB10 mid and Ignite.

Gino, I understand you used to use a FXP Prestige MP...How does this compare with your AG200???...I really enjoyed my brief hit with the AG200, but overall does it perform better then the FXP Prestige MP??

BTW when I played with my friends AG200, it was strung with a full set of BBO at about the mid tension. The Spin potential was great for a dense string pattern, and I found some good pop on groundies.

Too bad that Dunlop can't give me the AG 200 as apart of the DSquad program because it got discontinued. I really like it, although it could get some power, thats why I ended up with the 300 Tour.

'm Testing lower tensions. My next stress will 50/52lbs
So far this fantastic play with 51/53lbs still with excellent control.

What are people stringing 4d200 18x20s at assuming a non-poly string job? I've been using a full bed of X1 biphase in my O3 white strung at 58/55, and now that Im moving to the 4d 200, I'm wondering what to have it strung at...

I've got one strung with Head Ultra 16 @ 51 lbs and it's pretty good. I can't say that I love full poly though. I think I like a blend. In either case, my favorite setup was 17guage Babolat Addiction or Gamma Asterisk both @ 49 mains / 47 crosses. I get a lot of height on my serve, a lot of topspin and good control. My only problem there is that tension works best in the fall/winter months. In the summer, I have to go higher in the tension.

Hi all, can someone help me? When somebody post tension as 51/53 lbs.
Am I correct to say the mains is strung at 51 lbs? Thanks

I just bought one too =)

An Aerogel 200 (grip 3, will build it to a 4) from that big sports shop in the UK that was selling them for £50 (the one that owns Dunlop and Slazenger and various other brands), will have to wait for it to be delivered.

Thought it was worth punting for one as they are going so cheap and will be out of stock soon.

BTW Gugafan, I played with your old FXP Prestige tonight, getting used to it, nice frame and the strings seem ok to me, some life in them yet (compared to my dead Alu roughs in my Yonex anyway.)

I put about 30g of lead under the grip to make it more headlight, feels more familiar now.

Does anyone know what factory strings will be in it? (sorry if I missed it earlier in the thread, lots of posts to read.)

Xenakis I got mine from sports direct in the bullring for the same price. If you have the time, get down there. I think there was one with no plastic on the handle going for £30!!, not for me as it was a grip 3 only.

The AG200 has quite a substantial swingweight, hope I can manage swinging it around after long rallies...String looks pretty crap to me (Dunlop m-fil tour 16).

Have you tried serving with the FXP Prestige MP???....I was really able to serve some serious bombs with that racket.

Hmm, I just ordered one new from them mail order in a grip 3, could cancel it and try the Bull Ring tomorrow (possibly the worlds most unpleasant shop though, no space to walk and always packed with impolite people.)

Will consider if I can stomach going in there tomorrow, when you say there was no plastic on the handle you mean the shrink wrap stuff over the grip?, nothing actually wrong with the racquet? (was it deffo a Aerogel 200?, saw some Mfil 200s the last time I was in there, no Aerogels though IIRC)

Re the string, thanks for the info, not a well reviewed string, this is from stringforum.net

Came factory strung on my M-Fil 300. It is a terrible string, no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Might try Kirschbaum Pro Line 2 in it at a medium tension, see how that goes.

Oh sorry, re serves with the FXP, very nice when I hit the sweetspot but still getting used to it a bit. Was tempted to get my RQiS 1 tour out a points tonight but stuck with the FXP and it paid off in the end, it's almost as if the frame does cup the ball a bit more (perhaps the tech isn't always a con)

The racket was fine, just no wrapping over what looked an untouched new grip. I am pretty sure there was only one left, and there was a £30 sticker on the grip. Whether this was the actual price, or someone was fooling around and put the sticker on the racket I dont know...Nevertherless, I would expect them to give you some discount from £50 considering the racket has no cardboard product info and plastic wrap missing over grip.

Hopefully , I will post a review on the racket sometime this week.

I just had a look at how to cancel the order and apparently I can't do it until I receive the goods (can't see an option to cancel before than anyway), not sure I want to go and buy one in town and then wait for the other one to be delivered and send it back for a refund (plus I have to pay the postage.)

Might just go with the mail order one, it will be factory fresh I suppose (hopefully.)

I've been reading a lot of the posts involved with this racquet and I'm actually surprised at how the popularity for this stick seems to have died down as compared to the AG300. The fact that you rarely see any posted for sale in the "For Sale" threads leads me to believe it is a classic "keeper" amongst racquets.

I love this racquet and will be using it for a very long time.

Count me in...Just purchased one of these beautys brand new in a grip 2. Making the switch from a fxp prestige MP.

Might take it for a hit tomorrow. Though tempted in cutting out the factory string and stringing up with big banger original, felt great in my friends racket. What tension do you guys recommend??...I used to string most polys at 52 lbs in my fxp prestige mp, thinking of going for the same kind of tension.

Gugafan, So which one you bought is it 4d 200 (18x20)? I've also been on the same path as you liked the Prestige's but the HEAD grips make me go crazy. I've recently switched to the Dunlop 4d 200 (18x20) and I'm loving it. Just for comparison I also demoed the Prince Rebel, didn't like it much it feels a bit inconsistent on the groundies when going for a big cross court or a down the line winner. I'll like to heard your thoughts on the Dunlop as well and also if you tried the Rebel.

Aerogel 200 is a truly amazing frame when you have the energy to exploit it's potential but it will punish you if you don't put enough effort into it. I've played this frame for a while and i found it to be very uncompromising on those days when feeling a little slower and tired or just not in the best tennis mood. Laziness and unpolished strokes will have severe consequences with this one.

But, bring your A game and it's an absolute beast.
