Dunlop Biomimetic Grip Sizes run smaller?

Hey guys,

I demoed the Dunlop Bio 200 plus. It came in a 4 3/8 grip size. I really liked the racket. The grip size felt almost like a 4 1/4 size from the aerogel 4d series I usually play with. Anyone else notice the grip sizes running smaller for the biomimetic series?

Yep, I bought BM600 in 4 1/2 because 3/8 felt tiny. Compared to Prince, Babolat and Wilson they feel at least 0.5 size smaller to me...

Why is this a constant question on these boards ?? What somebody "feels" is hardly relevant as that's shape dependent as well.
Just do some measuring...and find out for sure...

L 1 = 4 1/8 inches = 105 mm
L 2 = 4 1/4 inches = 108 mm
L 3 = 4 3/8 inches = 111 mm
L 4 = 4 1/2 inches = 114 mm
L 5 = 4 5/8 inches = 118 mm

The geckos are thinner this season.

Yeh...must be the economy ...

The new Gecko-Tak grip must be thinner as that would explain the thinner grip quite easily.

Babolat's grips are also thinner now that they use Skinfeel.

I just called TW and they said the biomimetic grip size is the same as the previous Aerogel 4d's. They also said babolat sizes tend to run a little larger.

Historically Babolat ran larger, but the new Skinfeel grip is reportedly thinner. I don't think companies run around changing grip sizes, but they do change the replacement grip they come with. The Gecko grip is a new grip for Dunlop.

So if I use a 4 1/2 Babolat (Head leather grip + overgrip) and find it a little big for my liking, I could use the exact same setup with Dunlop and it would be a tad smaller?

thats what i was thinking. like od1n said, all grips should be the size as advertised, but the thickness of each replacement grip varies.

SkinFeel is thinner but not all Babs use Skinfeel. APDC / PDGT uses Syntec as far as I'm aware. One quirk that I've noticed is that the grip that comes with the retail racquet is not necessarily the same as the retail replacement grip. For example, the Syntec on the PDGT is slightly thinner and narrower than the Syntec grip you buy in the shops.

Just to bump this thread.

My guess is that the grip size is the same, the only difference is in the original grip( thinner in the BMs ). Is that true?

I'm wondering if pallets always stay the same or do they change them according to the grip going on top to make the end result the right gripsize?

If not a Wilson L3 with a leather grip may not be the same as an L3 with a syntectic factory grip?

Yes, iv notice this as well. the syntec on the retail frames are thinner while the syntec replacement grip is a lot thicker and softer. wierd.

but the Dunlop Bio do run smaller grips this time round. i usually use 1/4 but with my 300 tours, i had to buy 3/8.
