Dunlop M-Fil 300

I have 2 and they are just like the TW one you have. Although, My dampers look like the little square one on the top.

Here the one on top is the one from TW.

The one on the right is the one from TW.

The dampener that came with the racquet I bought from TW is the one at the bottom

And in the first picture the one on the left is the one I bought from TW

Sorry guys, I got it mix-up...;)

I think you might have a fake on your hands...could just be the pictures...but it looks like the beam widths are different...which would suggest a completely different frame. The PJ looks off also along the sides...both of my MF300s look completely Identical and the case being different is very odd also as all MFil players I know have the same red one with all the graphics...

Don't worry mate, nobody's going to build fake copies of rackets that cost 50-70 bucks. They will try to fake the 170+ ones.
You probably have one built for a different market, with slightly different decals. If they feel the same ... stop worrying about it and just play.
By the way, those dampeners are both "dunlop", I have the square ones received with my AG 200's and the other one received with the Dunlop Maxply ... again just a "market difference" I would guess.

Why don't you edit your posts to get it right? I'm still confused! ;)

I bought 2 on **** from a seller in Canada and have one just like the top (or left) one on your first picture that has the frame like the one with the smaller letters on the left in picture 2 and I have the long damper on the bottom from the last picture 3. I paid $55 each and $26 shipping. I love them, fake or not. I have one strung at 55# and one at 60# Prince Synthetic 16 and the Wilson Pro over wraps in white.

You can edit posts...an "Edit" button appears next to the Quote button in the bottom-right of messages that you have posted.

I have the Dunlop 300G, M-fil 300 and the Maxply McEnroe. All 3 uses the same mold and grommets and all the grommets look like the ones on the left in the 2nd picture. My MF3 looks like the one on the left in 1st picture.

I bought one from TW (yellow grommet model) and one from the vendor in Canada with the $26 shipping. They are the same (other than the color of the grommets) and match the bottom (or right) one in the pics above. Also, the one from Canada came with the square dampener whereas the one from TW came without. Hope this helps.

hmm.. just replaced my grip with the TW leather and found it still to be loose.. (http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showpost.php?p=1812634&postcount=4044) upon further inspection, i find that the cause maybe the butt cap is loose?? I usually hold pretty low and i can feel the butt cap move/squeek when i swing the racquet up and down with a cont grip. so the new question is if anyone had the same issue with the sports authority stock pile and if nailing in the staples will cure the problem for me??

sapien...
you can remedy this by taking of the staples on the buttcap, pushing in to perfect fit and stapling it again with T-50 staple...

or you can just tape the buttcap on the handle with any tape(scotch, medical tape)... don't worry about it falling off... it won't... the tape and the replacement grip will be enough... you won't feel a difference...

Seems like a whole lot of people disagree with you there. I'd love to try one, but for some weird reason I didn't spot a single Dunlop at any of our sports stores.

top secret.. you can just call up TW and ask for a price adjustment on the mfil for 69 bucks. It's widely know that they are $69 at sports authority.

all 4 of my sports authority models are just fine. I have replaced three with the TW leather, I used a new staple/tack for the end on the buttcap. may just be a fluke on yours. glad you got it fixed.....now...let's go play some tennis with the best racquet ever!

by the way, been doing some hybrid stringings with mfil tour 16 mains and ashaway dynamite crosses....some really cool spin plus power, plus tension holding for over a month now!

When I used Dynamite (full), it flattened out on me where it contacted the other string. Are you seeing that too?

Hello fellow club members! I've been out of action for a while and nice to see the club thriving and throbbing! It's like going to a Rolling Stones concert. They've been around for the longest time but are hard to knock down! :D :D :D

Has anyone been updating the club roll in my absence?

Welcome to the club, sciwriter, m.w.williams, WSC and jvis!!!

HUGE club fees are due. We need to stock up for the year-end booze up and Rolling Stones concert tickets!!!

I really can't understand how 4 grams (2 each at 3 and 9 o'clock) of lead on my m-fil 300 could make a difference in my hitting, but it does. Without the lead, the racquet feels harsh and seems hard to control. I hit many more clean, controllable shots with it. I also put on a leather grip. Can anybody explain the physics of just 4 grams making a difference?

E=MC2 is the only physics I know. ;)

Couple of options:

1. The M-Fil is pretty light, so 4 grams, while not much, isn't inconsequential. It's widening the sweet spot up a bit, and providing a little more mass to hit through the ball.

2. it's all in your head.

:D

Either way, you win, so I would take the money and run!

Watching the old farts tennis tour tonight (Outback Series that Jim Courier runs) and Michael Pernfors and Pat Cash were playing. Both were using Dunlop AG 300s! :)

I don't expect that either would justify a PJ at this point in their careers, so I'm assuming they are actually using the racquet.

I've been happily hitting with my M-fil 300's for the last two months and can't seem to put them down so I guess for the first time i'm joining a club. Redflea i'm glad the 300 arrived quickly. Can't wait for more 1/2 to arrive here.

Perhaps I will provide you with some insight into strings ... here goes:

Stiffer strings - these will help provide a little more spin (eg. kevlar/aramid, copolyester/polyester strings). The simple explanation is that there will be less string deflection upon impact with the ball, therefore transferring more of the kinetic energy into ball bite and thus creating spin generation. In hybrid, stiffer strings are more typically used on the mains for this purpose.

Softer strings used on the crosses (eg. multifilaments, synthetic gut, natural gut) will help provide a little more power and comfort to a hybrid stringbed.

Some people like to use full polyester setups. These are either very hard and flat hitters who need to reign in some power to prevent the ball from going long; or they are chonic string-breakers and thus need more durability from the stringbed.

Hope this helps.

From what I understand, the mains are your control and your crosses are your power. So I chose to string with the ashaway dynamite (that has a really good control, 17 size that bite nicely into the ball) for my mains and the mfil tour 16 for crosses. Love the combination.

Hey jonalua how good are these racquets for topspin and slice 1hand backhands? and how about a twist serve? Thanks! I am gonna try and order these racquets again.

It's very easy to access spin w/the M-Fil 300...I'm a relatively flat hitter (old-school strokes) but find it easy to spin up w/the M-Fil 300. I hit a mixture of topspin and slice backhands and you can get very biting slice shots with it. It's relatively low mass, but it's closer to even balance works well for slices for me.

The one characteristic of this racquet that struck me right off is what it did to my one-handed backhand slice. You can BURY people into a far corner with a cross court slice and dare them to go down the line and pass you.

I seem to be struggling a bit with my 2 m-fils. They are great for staying in a ralley due to the control aspect but I find it harder than my previous racquet to put balls away or put enough juice on the ball to cause people problems.

I have added 2g of lead at 9 & 3 and will see if that helps. Also considering re-stringing at lower tension.

Anyone got any pointers?

You, my friend, have a way with words...well spake. :D

Wow. What a difference 6g can make. I did the above mod and not much changed. I then added 2g at 12 o'clock (no counterweight in handle) and I can only say the results were amazing. It felt like the whole stringbed was more responsive and powerful and instead of the ball dropping around the service line I was hitting some really deep balls with no extra effort and no loss of control.
The harsh feeling in the upper hoop was also gone. More controled power on all shots. Strongly advise you give this a try if you are struggling with the racquet a bit as I was before deciding to sell it as a lot seem to be doing!

what yonex supergrap color looks best with the mfil 300 or aerogel 300?? I'm interested in the huge 30 pack. So out of white, black, and red.

thanks

I've only used the black...looks nice, hides wear, good counter-point to the red/silver on the rest of the racquet.

I don't like white, gets soiled and looks ugly. :(

I don't use red, there's enough red on the racquet already. :)

Wow RedFlea you are still here! You have kept this MF3 Club running. I haven't used an MF3 for a while but it's been a real long time since I visited my favorite thread on TW!!

How is everyone?!

I can sell you mine ... but not sure if you're willing to pay the freight costs from Singapore! :D

You Singaporeans and Aussies are a bit out of the way for us Yanks, unfortunately. :)

Now if you could just find me the dried black beans I used to get at a local chinese grocery store...not dried as in rock hard, but dried as in kind of soft and pasty, dry to the touch, but you could easily smush them between your fingers. 6mm or so long, 2 or 3mm thick.

They added a great taste...we used them in a lot of our Chinese cooking until they disappeared from the store when it changed hands, and we haven't seen them since. (We now use black bean paste from a jar.) The new owners look at us blankly when we try to describe those dang beans.... :)

Back on topic (sort of). I hit w/a friends O3 Speedport black last night, and it was pretty darn nice. Big sweet spot, doesn't have the deadened feel the O3 Tour does, though it was dampened enough that even though it felt pretty stiff, it was comfy. Has a lot of power (strung at 57), good control, and swung very light for me in spite of the 327 listed SW (which surprised me when I looked it up today). If any of you have wandering eyes (shame on you!) you might want to take a look at it. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't hate it. :D

Hey - pnoyr3d...Hi yourself. Hope you're doing well w/your new sticks!

Yo! You're still around too! Hope everything is going well with you.

I hope you guys are watching the year-end championships in Shanghai...some pretty surprising results and some very fun matches.

Had a match tonight w/a buddy...fun stuff. We're good friends so there is much smack-talk and general friendly abuse bantered back and forth while we attenpt to hit each other off the court.

He won the last time we played, I won tonight...we tend to trade sets back and forth pretty evenly, so we both push each other to be better.

Good friend, good match, my wife and his daughter a few courts down getting their lessons from two of our pros.

Just a really nice evening...gotta love this game. :D

M-fil string/tension set up

Hello, fellow M-Fil club members! I love my recently purchased M-fil 300 racquet with the factory strings! I was just wondering what your string/tension preference is for this racquet. How does it compare to the factory set up? I hit a pretty flat ball most of the time, but do on occasion like to hit a forehand slice. Thank you in advance to all that reply!!
