Dunlop M-Fil 300

Hi M-fil 300 users, this may be a long shot but any of you used to use either the Revelation 200g or the Muscleweave 200g? If so, what were the immediate benefits when you moved onto the M-fil 300? I had a original 300g for a little while but I was getting pushed around alot by my heavier hitting partners.

Currently I am using the Revelation 200g and am able to withstand the heavy shots better but would like a bit more power. Been thinking about the M-fil or the Aerogel 300s as a possibility. Thanks any and all responses. Cheers!:)

Well, not exactly, but I briefly used the HM 200 before trying out the AG 300 and switching to it. The HM 200 probably has a bit more pop than the MW, but I am not familiar with the revelation version.

The lower weight was the main benefit to me by switching. The HM was pretty HL, so not too terrible to swing, but I just found I was working a bit too much. My 1HBH was suffering a bit also.

The AG 300 is more powerful and certainly lighter, but I found it a pretty easy hitting racquet. It offers a nice compromise for me, although I think it hits slightly stiffer than 62 - feels more like a 65ish frame. But that still works too because it retains a nice feel with it. It's still got the Dunlop feel - crisp yet soft.

Okay, I got very frustrated tonight and flung my racket right into a pole instead of the fence. Now I need another m-fil, anyone have any ideas easiest place to find one?

Hi all, I'm new here!

I used to play tennis at school about 8 years ago but then got an injury playing rugby and didn't do any sport for a long time. I've now rediscovered the joys of tennis, and am really enjoying the game again. I was using a really cheap racket, but this thread inspired me to buy an M-Fil 300 and I'm really loving it so far! It was almost new and only cost me 20GBP (about 30 dollars currently) - I feel like I got a real bargain. The racket has a nice weight to it and I feel like my confidence has doubled with this in my hands.

Thanks again to everyone here for their input on this thread!

I have been using my T/W Donnay pro One's as of late but yesterday, broke out one of my M- Fill 300's.

Damn!! My serves were harder and I seemed to be hitting the ball crisper. It looks like I'll be restringing my M- Fill's and using them for a while.

hey guys i just bought an mfil 300 and i did a little balancing test, on my finger, and the racket seems to be even balanced maybe a little head heavy. also, could me replacing the stock grip with two overgrips have something to do with this? and, have they ever made fake mfil 300's? thank you.

To all fellow m-fil users.

Has anyone else tried a poly at v low tension (35lbs)? I have and am loving the response. Removed all the lead from the head /throat but still have leather grip.

Still plays really solid with tons of spin/power.

Is there still love out there for this frame or have others moved on to newer frames?

I have tried some other racquets of late but nothing has persuaded me away from my m-fil (although the Vantage 95 63RA comes close)

Still loving my M-Fil 300's....I string them between 58-61lbs with Alpha 2000 multifilament. Long live the M-Fil 300!!!!!

Hello fellow M-Fil 300 owners, past and present. I know the time will come when my M-Fil 300's will eventually go dead or soft. What racquet's have you all moved on too? How have they compared to our beloved M-Fil's? Thank you to everyone that replies.

Just started demoing the 4d 300, this is a really nice
stick.Great feel very solid hit even though it weighs
only 11 ounces.

I will continue to demo this racket, but the way it is
playing i may be changing to it quickly. There is something
special about this racket.Great spin racket, serving+the
backhand slice is as good as i have ever seen.

4d 300

The M-fil 300 had more power, particularly strung at a lower tension 955). There was something about how the ball came off the racquet on a slice backhand that I haven't experienced before or since. The 4d 300 to me feels less stiff and more head light. I'm having a hard time figuring out a good tension to string it. I sorely miss the M-fil 300, despite the horrible grip and the fact that, for every one I owned, the butt cap always came off and got lost.

I still have my original in 9.5/10 condition. It was the first true players racquet I ever used. I take it out from time to time, but I keep it for nice memories.

I still have my MF3s, however one went to racquet heaven when it slipped out of my sweaty hands and landed with an almighty CRACK. One down, two to go!

Resurrecting a long dead thread.

Demoing an M-fil 300, first hit was very nice. Will see how it holds up against more powerful hitters, wondering if it needs a lot of lead. Would like to keep it light as it swings very fast.

Anyone still using one?

I thought this was a great frame, for anyone who wants a "player's frame" in a lighter package; not sure why I have never owned one though, probably quite hard to get now I should think.

II enjoyed first outing with it. Nice hit. Your description seems spot on. Are TW's specs accurate? Flex is rated at 61 but the frame lettering says 64. I know TW's is an average reading.

I hope this frame satisfies my desire for comfort and extra power on groundstrokes and serve.

I used to use these, had 5 at one point. I still have 1, my very first players frame. It will always have its sentimental value, still on its first string job with the original Dunlop multi. on it.

Hey LanEvo. it's my main racquet currently. Picked up a HM300G but disappointed with it, feels dissimilar to my MFil 300.

Still tinkering and ejoying it. I think it (M-fil 300) prefers a multi, the syngut I've just tried didn't gel at all!

Sup guys! its been awhile since I was on here or even played. I still have my 2 mfils and 3 aerogels and I'm gonna start hitting around some more. I'm in college now and lookin to just play for fun on the club team. I quit after highschool so its been like 2 years. But i'm interested in some of yalls string setups nowadays. I've been outta the game so long I don't know what string is hot stuff around the tennis world! When I stopped playin I was frequently using babalot pro hurricane tour or whatever and also Cyberflash. So i'm a poly guy. But I did see that Dunlop released a few new strings with catchy names since I've been out and was curious if yall've tried any of them. Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Dunlop aerogel 4D 300 is the successor to the mfil. Best racquet ever!
I have played the new Bio 300...but the 4D 300 is the best one I have played. The M-fil 300 was far and away the worst. No power, no feel.. sweetpot the size of a pea. Stiff and clunky. Bought two sold them in record time. I am told the New Bio is the best since the 1st version of the 300G. The 4D version is very nice if it suits your game.

Yes a multi. Setup or a Syn. Gut. / Kevlar setup, cannot go wrong with either one.

What do you guys feel are main differences between the Mfil 300 and the Hotmelt 300G ?

Idk, can't help you there. I only have used the Mfil and the versions after that. I only have 1 Mfil left, basically brand new still with original strings, only the wrapper was taken off. I would sell it, it it would have to be the right price or the right trade.

I found that the M-Fil has a little bit more power and is not as harsh on off center hits. Still getting used to the M-Fil though.

I agree. Had a brief hit with the HM300G and was disappointed. Didn't like the feel. Felt tinny and not at all solid. Will have to restring and lead it up before finally deciding but I haven't picked it up again after the first, brief hit.

The M-Fil 300 and I are exploring new string partnerships.

I bought my M-Fil 300 back in 2007 and currently is my main racket. I also use my kfactor 6.1 95 16x18 from time to time but I like the lighter feel of the M-Fil a lot better. Thinking about upgrading to the Aerogel 300. Maybe someone who's played with both Dunlops can give some differences between the two?

Forgive me for I have sinned! I recently purchased a PD2012 and my love affair with the M-Fil300 has come to an end. So much accessible power with a huge sweet spot (which was always an issue with the m-fil) means I have retired my 3 m-fils for the foreseeable future.

You'll be back!:)

Still swinging my M-Fil300. I still have my TW Donnays but have returned to the M-Fil300.

I have 2 one of which is still new with the wrapping still in place. This is still the best racquet I have ever used.

I had BPHT in the mains (59) and Xcel in the crosses (57) but broke the Xcel very quickly. Just re-strung with Pro Line II (57/55), never used the string before but it's meant to be a soft comfortable poly.

First outing with the Alpha at 56lbs, not bad. I think it might be a little too powerful though it might simply be me being rusty.

Rubbish p w p "multitraining" tennis balls too, will report back after a proper hit with better balls.

I've just hit with my Pro Line 2 strings. Initially thoughts are they do feel soft and pocket the ball nicely. Power seems ok but the spin was a little lacking. I only played doubles last night to I really need to play some singles to evaluate the string properly.

If the spin still isn't enough I will have to think about dropping to the 1.25mm gauge.

Count me as a fan. The 300 is my main stick, and after totyng with idea of new frames, I find that nothing feels as comfortable as my good ol' Dunlop M-fils. It's absolutely the best frame I've ever used for volleying...makes me better at the net than i really am. I'll mention this in the "wanted" forum soon but, anyone wanting to sell one or possibly two, I might be interested. Same goes for the 200 with the open pattern.

Ill post in your thread when you have created it.

Just an update to the Pro Line 2 strings. I found my wrist wasn't happy with a full bed of poly. I did start to hit nicely with them, but overall they were a bit low powered (loads of control though), and not that much spin.

I have just put in SPPP in mains and Babolat N.vy in the crosses. A lot more power, nice pop on the serve. I would say adequate spin, need to spend more time playing and hope my wrist recovers.

I have 2 mfil 300, however grommets are cracked. I love these sticks.. is anyone selling or know where can I find grommets for these since this is outdated?
