Dunlop Max 200g - cracked buttcap OK?

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about buying a 200g after using my friends 150g:)

I have found one in good nick except for a cracked buttcap. Normally I wouldn't mind but I know the 200g is injection molded and I wondered if this might be a problem? I don't know anything about this type of racquet construction.

Cheers!!:)

"Heh heh... He said 'cracked.' And 'buttcap.'"
"Yeah! yeah! Like buttcrack!"
"Shut up, Beavis."

Thanks for the advice:)

It's $100 and in really great shape except for the buttcap. The green stripes around the head are still intact.

You should be able to buy 2 for that price IMHO.

With the injected graphite construction they don't need to be pretty to play great....

Great, great frame....good luck.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I ended up paying $85 for it, I paid a bit over the odds as it looks almost unused compared to all the other ones I saw for sale.

It's the 3rd version of the 'two green stripes' 200g with the patent number on the side of the frame.

It should arrive in about a week - can't wait!

p.s. I'm gonna be hitting with my friends 150g again tonight - it's amazing how you can use such a small head if you concentrate, move your feet and watch the ball! I don't even have to alter my fairly extreme western forehand grip. Might be a different story if I was playing someone that I didn't have something like a 50-2 career record against though...

Congrats, if you have a fast swing with good technique you will love it. The 200G has a much easier to find sweet spot than other 85's and even 90's IMHO.

Sounds like you will enjoy......when hunting a spare remember the flaky paint comes off easily, just because there is no paint left on the frame does not mean it doesn't remain in top condition.

Ugly just reduces the price not the playability in many cases. Kinda like the sticky paint frames from the i series like the i prestige and i radical in that regard. Ugly = bargain for your bag!

The 2 I have left have no paint left on them. I turned the mint one over last year in a straight swop for a mint PT630/ PT57 paint job. The paintless frames played the same as the mint frame.

I never found the Max 200 G size to be a problem. You just put the frame on the ball. 85 inches is plenty.

hrstrat57 and Max - I think I'm going to agree with you about 85sq inches being plenty.

I usually use OS frames, TT Rad OS, Vacuum Pro OS, Pro Tour 690 etc. I take the ball very early and try to never retreat behind the baseline. I picked up my mates 150g for a giggle, not thinking I'd be able to get the ball on the strings at all. After 5 mins, it wasn't a problem. And the 200g is going to feel like a light OS compared to the 150!!

Am going to string with Big Ace Revo 17l mains and Spiral Flex 16 crosses. I would have gone with gut but the 150g has so much power I figure a good soft poly hybrid will be the go in the 200g. Big Ace Revo kicks arse by the way.

Strong recco natural gut with that frame.....50-55 lbs depending on your preference. Remember, you are going old school here.

Buttah!

I'm not going old-school though...I think the 200g will make me a better player but I'm still going to play a modern game with an extreme forehand grip and topspin/flat two hander.

I swing fast, seldom slice and only come to the net to shake hands in a serious match. I have found soft polys to be best for my game. I used to use nat gut (along with heavy flexy frames it cured my elbow).
