Dunlop Max 300i PRO

Which are the most stiff or thickest out of those ones with 18 mains?

200G and 300i are the same mold but the 300i is stiffer with noryl GTX added to the matrix

Interesting. Noryl GTX is not presumed to add stiffness. The addition of polyamide (PA) to polyphenyl ether (PPE) is supposed to improve flow during injection molding. Different size carbon fibers and content on the other hand can change the stiffness of the frame. Maybe the PA (in Noryl GTX) was added to improve the flow of the larger size or larger content of carbon fibers.

Just a few comments on the RA measure. This is a static measure of the racket's propensity to bend upon applying a force on the frame. The thermoset frames are much stiffer (and brittle) due to the way they are built (layers of carbon sheet bonded with a brittle epoxy. A "100%" carbon frame is probably 50% or less carbon and the rest epoxy) than an injection molded frame made of small strands of carbon fiber and a nylon matrix.

Now, and hold on to your seats, some argue that there is a dynamic stiffness of the frame that is not accounted by the RA as measured by the method mentioned above. What that means is that some materials very slowly bend to a greater extent than others when constant pressure is exerted. However, under a short impact, their behavior is similar to that of a more rigid material. Think of water. You hit it at low speed, sliding in, there is no pain. You hit water from 1000 feet, it feels like concrete and your bones will fracture. Or consider a towel. If you get hit slowly, no pain. If swung at high speed, the towel can inflict some serious pain.

From playing with the 200G Pro, my impression is that if you hit the ball gently, without conviction, accuracy will suffer. However, if you hit the ball crisply, with determination, the feel is much firmer, without ever being jarring. This is also obvious on volleys. Gentle volleys feel very different from sharp, put away ones. The harder the opponent hits the ball, the crisper your volley.

All of this is conjectural, with no scientific measuring on my behalf. Anecdotal reports from the time Prince was selling the Vortex racket and golf club shafts (not IMF, but a hybrid method combining carbon sheet with nylon matrix instead of epoxy) say that Prince sales people traveled with props that would demonstrate such "dynamic stiffness".

Maybe some form of dynamic frame testing can confirm or infirm the above.

Still own a NOS 200G, owned a 500i. Know a guy with turrible TE that could only use the 500i & 800i. Finally had to play left-handed, a fate no one should face.

The 300i was marketed as being stiffer than the 200G

Just to avoid any confusion since your sole 300i is unstrung, would you agree that if it were strung with a typical 15g of string the specs would be about the following? (my understanding is adding 15g of strings adds about 30 to the SW, and stringing seems to reduce RA by 3pts) Thanks!

So here we go on my 'new' MAX 300i, which is an LM version:

MAX 300i, weight 380g (strung), balance 32cm (7pt HL)

Based on the examples I've seen, it is fairly clear that the MAX 200G and MAX 300i came in unstrung weights in ranges: SL-336-349g, L-350-364g, LM-365-375g, M-376-385. Leading to typical strung weights of: SL 356g, L 370g, LM 384g, M-394.

Placards for the MAX 400i shows that it was 14g (1/2oz) lighter unstrung for each category: SL-321-335, L-336-350g

I shall hope to report back on hitting shortly, but it already feels good at 'ceiling tennis'!

Have you seen , held, played , or better yet measured a Dunlop max 200 GL ?
I’m not 10000% sure but I believe the GL = ( like our estusa provantch GL,s that we both possess ) are they too shorties ? I can’t distinguish if the max 200 gl is 26? Or 25? Or 25.5 or even 26.5 .....
The GL to me look the exact same as any 200g max, so what say you Dino ? Any ideas ?
