Dunlop Precision 98 Tour

There already is a thread for this:
https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/ind...se-playtest-dunlop-precision-racquets.575246/
it just hit the market, as we know dunlop does not fall in the big sexy three, so no matter how great this precision line is, it will always be a step child.
Personal looks to be a solid underdog frame for the buck. I least this time hey eliminated all the bio related hype...
I still have some rare hotmelts and muscle weaves editions that I would not part way....

They look like F and M3.1's with a new paintjob.

The specs are broadly the same, the molds look the same.

As a long time and still current user of Dunlop racquets, I'm initially underwhelmed by this latest offering as it appears to be a second paintjob of the Bio .0 range.

I'd be happier if they brought out the first generation Biomimetic racquets with just a new paintjob. They did that once before with the 'Classic' range, why not just do that again.

they appear to have stiffened the frame but added a new handle system. The F3.0 and F3.1 were foam filled. Different grommets and parallel drilling are also new. I expect playability to be similar. Maybe a bit more power. I am curious how much different the sting bed is. It used to be pretty snappy where the Bio 300 Tour had that nice dwell time. I am guessing this will be in-between. Feel may be more muted with the new handle system.

paint it, tweak it and they will come.....

oh I am intrigued also but it won't be long before the prices drop on these precision puppies also...

Only differences in stock specs between Precision 98 Tour and Bio F3.0 Tour is static weight (315 vs 308) and RA (66 vs 62), so i don't expect big difference in playability. But i wonder if there is any improvement in feel department. I do not like that metallic feel on Bio F3.0 Tour.

I think that was the thing that Dunlop needed to change.

The frame mold and specs are fine, it was just the hollow feel that some of that range had, which I think disappointed a few long time Dunlop users.

I agree with you guys that the mold does look the same as my F3.0. When I string my F3.0 with a full bed of poly, I never go higher than 53 pounds. This makes it less 'pingy' sounding and metallic feeling. I was selected for the play test and if I get the Precision 98 Tour I will do my best to compare the two of them. I played with the F3.0 for a year before switching to the M2.0. I just switched over to the Volkl SG Mid 320 but I still have all of my old Dunlops. I will string the play test frame with Kirshbaum PL2 17L at 52 lbs.

In my opinion the Biomimetic line was the last of the old school feeling Dunlops. With the M, F, S, series Dunlop went the modern stiff frame route and changed the feel of the racquet as well as the quickness of the string bed. I am a fan of the old school Dunlops but I can also appreciate the newer offerings from the standpoint of improved playability while still retaining some feel (at lower tensions).

It would have been nice if Dunlop would have kept a classic line for there are many people who love their older frames.

I would like an update to the M 2.1 line. Currently playing with a 2.0 and even though it gets a lot of hate on here, I like it alot

Anyone played with this racquet yet ?
Check out the play test thread for future updates there. Unfortunately I received the 100 Tour so I will not be able to compare the 98 Tour to my F3.0 of Bio 300 Tour. Still excited to play test the 100 Tour.

I still have my 8 Dunlop M2.0's and played with them for 2 years. Great lighter players frame in my opinion. It has some pop and good feel for a stiffer frame. I played with a full bed of poly and never had arm issues. It is a solid frame. Most of the hate is from people who loved the classic feel of the old Dunlops but the fact is that while they felt buttery smooth they were harder to play with. WIth the F/M/S line Dunlop made the frames stiffer but increased the size of the sweet spot (still not huge) and enhanced their playability.
