Dunlop Revelation/Dunlop 200G MW/Head PT

Legend
Dunlop Revelation Tour Pro (red & black cosmetics) VS Dunlop 200G MW VS Head Pro Tour...

Basically I'm familiar with the 200G MW and the Head PT, so info on the Revelation Tour Pro and how it plays, as well as comparisons with the other two, would be much appreciated... BTW, I'm specially interested in ppls views on the power quality of the Rev Tour Pro on serves.

Cheers

Ross

Do you mean these?

Hey sunflower,

Nice pics. I've been curious about the Revelation series for awhile but I've never had the pleasure of actually hitting with these absolute RILFs! Anyhow, do you happen to know anything regarding the Revelation Tour Pro (red and black cosmetics)? Basically I'm wondering if they serve with a fair amount of pop (like their kin folk, the 200G MW), or are we talking the infamous wet noodle (or is it overcooked linguine?!)

Mine is a Revelation Tournament Pro... I haven't been able to locate specs on this version.

Click on the pic to check out the album ;)

Sorry I dont know much about Revelation Tour Pro that your referring to.
But I imagine it is very similar to my Tour Pro 90 (same beam width etc).
All Revelations are 100% graphite and relatively low powered.

However my Tour Pro 90 has a surprising amount of pop.
The sweet spot is easier to find than say a PS Tour 90.

In comparison I would say these frames are closer in characteristics to Pro Staffs than the Head PTs than you are similar with.

I have three of them weighted to a bit over a pound each. The racquets are very low powered. The ball didn't clear the net on my first hit with one. Basically I just added weight until I was happy with the performance.

I've sometimes used the Head Pro (redhead) when the racquets weren't available for use (waiting for stringing) and switched to the Redondo two or three years ago and then switched to the K90 when I was unable to get additional Redondos due to PK's distribution problems. I've changed my game for the K90 and am very happy with it.

But I used the RTP for about 10+ years and enjoyed the stability, access to spin and control that the racquet provided. Power came from adding weight. My son uses the racquets now.

BTW, thanks for the pictures of the other models. The graphics on the line through the varying colors is quite nice.

movdqa,

Thanks for the replies. I have to say that this is rather what I feared:

As I'm not a great one for experimenting with lead tape, it looks like my interest in this rod has expired... although it does prompt a Q I suppose...

Which Revelation (if any) serves bombs and has a pretty good degree of power generally?

Preferred the Revelation Select Pro to the Tour Pro, it has a damped feel yet plenty of spin due to the open string pattern. Also preferred the Rev 200G to the MW 200G. These are all low powered sticks.

I got a bit tired of customizing too and decided that I wanted to go stock.

You might consider the PK Redondo Mid if you can find them. A great control and touch racquet but a fair amount more power than the RTP. It's a much more flexible racquet too.

Well, as I said in the OP intro, I know the MW - I found it to serve with some power and zip (notably more than the PT280.) In one or two other areas though it just wasn't quite for me at the time. But I wouldn't rule out having another look at it - I really do rate it pretty highly.

So there aren't any Revelations which also serve with some power and zip then?

200g is alot softer, more flexible, less powerful, and as I recall heavier. The 200g is definitely closer to a woodie than the Revelation Tour Pro, and as such has a smaller sweet spot. I really liked my old 200g and still have it, too bad it warped.

I just sold two of the MAX 200Gs on ****... They are the best racquets, but I don't feel like using the 82 square inch headsize anymore so I decided to substitute those for the closest racquets with a bigger headsize out there. I believe the closest racquets to the MAX 200G are the old Dunlops from the eighties and early nineties. That is why I am trying to get some. If you still have yours, please let me know! Thanks.

Just curious, how much did you sell your MAX 200Gs for? Can you tell us the auction site item numbers for them?

Thanks in advance.

I sold one of them for $50 and the other for $70. Why do you need the auction site and numbers though? They are sold...

Thanks. I was just curious to look at the pictures and the description you provided. (Wanted to compare with other MAX 200Gs I've seen on e bay.)
