Dunlop-Srixon CZ 98D

This one caught my eye even though the specs are so far from my wheel house...
First of the head. It's certainly very round and probably due to the paintjob it looks even rounder than some Prince frames like the new Phantom for example.

Even though it has an 8 string throat grommet the pattern is still insanely open due to the very wide throat. The crosses are also very widely spread.

While the frames design is somewhat targeted at Pure Drive fans (underlining design, not specs per se because this one is much lighter) only the head has an elliptic round beam shape, the throat is a box beam (think Dunlop M3.0, Babolat Pure Strike and such).

Reminds me somewhat of the Steam 99.

I put up these vids in another srixon thread hoping for the same.. there is a Japanese poster here who has translated some fukky's vids..
This Dunlop-srixon official vid gives some explanation with visuals, not a great deal though.. they look good!

Thx. I already saw that but you know how it is, you want as much information as possible. Especially from playtests not what the manufacturer claims. Granted the testers are from stores which want to move the product yadda, yadda, yadda... still. ;)

Yeah, wish there was more info as much as the other companies... The head shape is nice and round very much like Prince with a nice box beam should prove to be well... Specs are ideal to weight up !

If only the beam was a little thinner, I've been spoilt by my think beamed PS 97s

My thoughts exactly. I was like - WTF?! Has to be a typo... it wasn't! LOL.

Huh ! yeah I was thinking a type also (hoping) I think that head shape and string spacing is promising, just feel the 25 will be clunky feeling in hand... They should have made it like a cv 3.0 tour beam 23/24/21... or a 22 straight beam.. but I guess there is logic is their madness somewhere

@Automatix or anyone who may have tried or played the CZ 98D, I'm thinking of trying it out as a customization platform experiment. Looks like a really interesting frame: power with precision: 69RA with a hybrid box neck and elliptical hoop, nice and wide throat connection points and 8 throat mains for a high percentage of face area under direct control of the hand, central mains appear to be dense enough for more precise flatter strikes, potentially some nice Dunlop feel, and a wide swiping window. The mold is pretty unconventional, though.

Thinking it will take weight well (hopefully). Would plan to add a 18g heat shrink sleeve (full size), ~4g lead at 2" and ~5g lead at 7" on the handle, so roughly 27g handle mass, plus ~6-7g at 12 on the hoop, for a strung spec around 340 - low 340's grams / 31.5-31.7 -ish cm / low 330's SW. With a full-bed of newer gen poly or a smart hybrid, could be a good first-strike 1HBH bruiser.

Anyone have anything to add on this relatively unknown/forgotten-about frame?
