Durable, cross string, please?! =)

Hey guys. I'm looking to use Babolat Pro Hurricane 17g in my mains, and I need an extremely durable 17 gauge string for my crosses. Any suggestions? Thank you!

How about Pro Hurricane 17's? Poly is about as durable as it gets. And a full poly job isn't as bad as some posters here would have you believe.

Your crosses don't necessarily have to be durable; try a solid core synthetic, I do that and never break crosses first.

yup, 'solid core' (i.e. mono-filament) is the key. multi's are very vulnerable in the crosses.

I use gut in the mains and ashaway liberty 16 nylon in the crosses... a very nice combination. the gut provides the durability and the playability, while the liberty nylon has a rough and tacky surface that 'grabs' the mains well so they don't move around that much.

although after 3-4 weeks (yes that's how long the job lasts for me, I hit a flat ball), the nylon does get worn down a little and gets more slippery so the mains tend to move more, but that's about when the main breaks anyway.

Babolat Superfine play 17 is a good durable cross string to Pro hurricane. It is more durable than most people think especially with heavy topspin and kick serves.
