Eagnas Machines

I have owned an Eagnas Hawk 800 stringer for about 5 years now. I have never had a problem. The machine seems to be very solidly made. I know there is a lot of Eagnas bashing however I have had no reason to deal with customer service. I have a few questions regarding to spring tension stringers only.

1.) Other than customer service, are Eagnas machines that bad compared to the larger name brand machines? I have never actually strung on a high end machine like an Ektelon, but is the difference of the tensioning mechanism that great a deal? Are the racket mounts significantly different? Can you feel a different quality of stringing between Ektelon, Bobolat, Axis, etc. and an Eagnas machine with the same features. What is it about the quality of an Eagnas that is lower than other machines? Like I said, mine appears to be very solid.

2.) What are the differences of between the individual Eagnas machines? Let's say I look at a 6 point mounting system and 2 fixed clamp system, spring tensioning, stand up model. What causes the big price difference between all with those same features? Is it the quality and workmanship? Given those features, it seams we can find a variable of $150 among different machines, but it is hard for me to see the difference on the website.

3.) What is the maintenance protocol? I have never greased anything. The only thing I do is check the callibration which seems to be holding well all the time. My clamps only require very minimal adjustments if any, and I just clean the holding surfaces with alcohol and gauze.

My first stringer was a Tremont, so upgrading to a stand up Eagnas was like going from a Yugo to a Mercedes. Would upgrading to a Babolat or Ektelon be that great a difference from an Eagnas?

I am not thinking of uprgrading, nor do I need to. Just curious. So far I have been very happy with my Eagnas.

I also have a Hawk 800 model and I am thoroughly happy with it. I am also happy with the price that I paid ($350) for it compared to what I would have spent on a Prince stringer.

I think that the biggest reason for the price differences is the fact that Prince has to worry about advertising costs and such. Kind of like name brand drugs vs. generic drugs. Price is dictated by profit and commercialism.

My friend that has a Prince stringer is always raving about how easy it is to use but the Hawk is very simple also. He raves about how easy the clamps are but what can be worth paying over a thousand dollars when i paid about 1/4 of what he paid for his Prince?

When I bought my stringer, it didn't come with a owner's manual so I don't know of any maintenance schedule to follow. I'll just do maintenance when it seems to need it.

Happy stringing!
