Early College Top 25 Teams

It's a bit early, but to kill this boredom until college team tennis starts, I was wondering who would be the top 4 or 5 teams this season with a legitimate chance to win the national titles. Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio State, and USC come right to mind but who else?

In the second-tier, I'm thinking of the teams that could pull an upset and get into the Final Four. Texas A&M, Kentucky, Stanford, Texas, Florida, Georgia, and anybody else? I'm sure some have slipped my mind.

Then the third-tier, the teams that should make it to the Sweet Sixteen but not much else. Baylor, Louisville, Notre Dame, Illinois, Duke, Texas Tech, and who else?

It's always so hard to gauge the rankings until the seson gets under way but the top ten teams or so should be pretty solid.

Since the present NCAA format started in 1977, only 7 teams have won the team title. We should get an eighth this year in Tennessee or Virginia but they always seem to trip up somewhere. Should be a very interesting year.

That seems like a pretty accurate list. There's always a surprise or two but it should be fun. As long as they don't knock Illinois out of there!

I hope you're right about UNC. the transfer from U of Fla is a solid player - need the #4-6 players to step it up this season, and Jose Hernandez needs to bring his A game to the #1 spot.

UNC will not be a top 16 team. Ole miss is rediculous every year and will be top 8. Oklahoma is going to be top 10 without a doubt. Louisville, Notre Dame will not be in the conversation.

Top Teams should be
Virginia
USC
Tennessee
Ohio State
UCLA
Duke
Ole Miss
Georgia
Texas
Stanford
Oklahoma
Baylor
Michigan
Florida
Texas AM

Was Ole Miss ridiculous (not rediculous) last year? They were not in the top 16 and did not make the final 16. Might be better this year, might not.

The Big Ten will have Ohio State of course. Illinois has really really struggled with recruiting in the last 3 or 4 years so the top 16 is maybe all we can hope for this year. Michigan always recruits pretty well but they haven't produced. They will probably be number 3. They always have a chance to overtake Illinois though. Wisconsin had a lousy fall so they shouldn't be too much of a factor this year.

Wisconsin lost one of their top Germans, who transferred somewhere like San Diego State. Sorry I cannot remember the details.
