Early Round Epics Nobody Talks About?

I could bring up Borg's comebacks but I'll start with these and for the record early round is before R16.

USO 2006 Safin vs. Nalbandian 2R
6-3, 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 7-6(6)

WMB 1999 Courier vs. Schalken 3R
7-6(2), 3-6, 3-6, 7-5, 13-11
(Trivia, Courier would have another 5 set epic with Henman losing 7-9 which turned out to be his last match on grass)

French 1992 Sanchez vs. Masur 2R
3-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 13-11

AO 2002 Koubek vs. Saulnier 1R
0-6, 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-4, 8-6
(Koubek would go on to make the quarters beating James Blake in the following round also down 0-2 before straight set win and tight 4 set against Fernando Gonzalez)

The Koubek Aussie run is special for a player to start a Slam tournament with back to back 0-2 comebacks and as an unseeded player to face 2 qualifiers in the first 4 rounds.

Here’s one from 2017 1R USO: fedr 4-6 6-2 6-1 1-6 6-4 over Tiafoe. The last set had its drama too with fedr being broken while serving for the match at 5-3.

Another 1R crazy slam match: AO’16 when the favorite Nadal lost to Verdasco 7-6(6) 4-6 3-6 7-6(4) 6-2

A pivotal 2R upset of #1 seed Joe Kovic at AO’17 by Denis Istomin in the same pattern as Verdasco over Nadal the year before, 7-6(8) 5-7 2-6 7-6(5) 6-4.

And to be thoroughly equal opportunity to the Big 4, Andy Murray’s twin escapes in 1&2R RG’16 vs Stepanek and Bourgue, the first from 2 sets down to really old Radek and the other from 1-2 down to really young and unknown Bourgue.

Murray was two points away from losing to Stepanek :-D

I think Safin had a grueling early round USO match with Grosjean in 2000, the year he won it. Not sure if I have my year correct though.

I just blazed :) about to watch the Rafa highlights. Got a new tv this am
Nice dude. :)

I'm about ready to head off to the land of nod lol.

Just got back from the club. Was a bad night, the band wasn't too good. Oh well lol. At least it was a night. :)

An all time classic was in R3 at AO in 2003 (off the top of my head) between Roddick and El Aynaoui.

Federer vs Falla wimbledon 2010 I guess? Fed was 2 points away from getting broken in third set and also 0-2 sets down.

Found another one.

2013 French Open, Tommy Haas vs. John Isner 3rd Round: 7-5, 7-6(4), 4-6, (10)6-7, 10-8

Only found this on youtube though.
