Which part of a grand slam is your favorite part?

The first 3 rounds - Lots of matches happening, everyone having a chance to watch their favorites on court no matter how legendary or not they are, potential fun matches from lower ranked players, an upset here and there. In general a lot of tennis, lots of buzz.

The middle part of a slam, round 4 and quarters - A lot of the more juicer match ups, more high profile players including the favorites and in form dark horses clashing. A solid chance to see the real contenders from the pretenders. Still plenty of matches, not as much as at the start, but matches between typically higher ranked players

The deep stages, semis and final - The stakes are at their highest, the ability to focus on all three matches without distraction, more often than not the truly big names battling it out in the most high pressure situation with it all on the line. Less matches, but the hype and anticipation is amazing.

Great thread.

I'm honestly torn. I think I have to go for the start.

The initial excitement, the 5 set thrillers on the mens side from the smaller players but also sometimes from the big guys too. The upsets that happen especially on the women's side (although they're a lot more consistent now), the crowd involvement. Having so many choices of matches to watch.

Deep stages hands down.

I think Semi finals are usually the best matches to watch, Finals can go either way in being epic or a blowout but semi finals usually produce some really great tennis. It's only really R1 matches that have some occasional drama in the early rounds, middle rounds is sort of journeyman elimination round, not many epic matches but SF/F are where it's at for me!

The volume and variety of the start is great, the depth of quality of the middle fantastic, but there's nothing like getting up at 4am, making coffee and settling onto the couch in a still and quiet house to watch live the Wimby or French final.

I usually watch the Slams on TV and so, I like the last few rounds. When I go to Indian Wells, I go for the Round of 32, Round of 16 and QFs because you get to see a lot more matches. I’ll go to the final if it has players I want to watch.

The middle and the end, although the beginning can have some interesting matchups and buzz, as said. Right now, I’m just feeling excitement over all the tournaments ahead of us this year!

If I’m going in-person? Definitely the early rounds.

Watching on TV? Really nothing beats the drama of a late round blockbuster match.

QF, SF and F obviously

4R and pre 4R matches I don't watch at all unless I come to know it was a great match so I watch replays.
