Number 2 seed Kyle Edmund takes on fellow Brit Andy Murray in the Round of 16 at Eastbourne. They have faced twice, with Andy Murray taking both of those. Andy Murray needed three sets to defeat Kyle Edmund on their only grass court encounter in 2016 at Queen's club.

Murray impressing me with his return! I expected it to be more Stan/Novak-esque. Not a fan of him personally, but good to see him back and playing well. Murrygoat in 2 :D

...

Did i say that right?

Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves here... he's won one match, against Stan who has had such a bad comeback you're using him as an example of a bad comeback.

I'm hopeful that he beats Edmund an turns out to be fully back and winning, but not sure that hope is substantiated yet.

I watched his whole match against NK, was expecting his form to be reminiscent of his limping around against Querrey last year. From what i understand the type of injury he had is a career ender. My reasoning for the expected win against Edmund is that its not the younger Brits best surface, and Murray will certainly be very familiar with his game having been around him for the better part of a decade (because both from UK).

This one is sure interesting. The Stan match was a given easy win to Murray. But this one, I think the British #1 will take it in 3 sets.

Pressure is really on Edmund for this one! First time he’s playing Murray as the favourite, and if he can’t beat him after almost a year off and with Murray having had a hip operation it could really have a negative impact on his confidence moving forwards.

Edmund is no slouch and has the perfect opportunity to cement himself as UK’s number one player.

If the rusty Murray wins however, this just shows how good the Scot is.

Great game coming up!

Kyrgios went easy on Andy, and Stanley is in terrible shape. This is a better test, tho can still see Edmund being a bit awestruck.

Edmund is playing really well so far and looks far more comfortable on grass than he's looking in the past. His FH is certainly testing Murray's speed too, if Andy comes out of this match with a win then it will be huge.

Muzziah must channel his inner Barney Stinson! Sock did it in Paris and made WTF.

Murray's serving is the ONLY part of his game that is looking awful since his return to the game. His FH actually looks better, BH and movement all looking good but his serve is still as garbage as ever, maybe even worse. He really REALLY needs to work on that or rev up the speed or do something to fix the consistency

Muzz served much better in the Nick match last week, with more velocity and deeper in the box. Sometimes it looks on his second serve like he's just serving 3/4 pace and as if he's in practice.

Edmund looking super comfortable right now, i don't see him letting this break slip away. Looking like straight sets right now

Now the question is: will Andy play Wimbledon? He has no chance of winning it, but match play would be desirable. Depending on his draw, he could get to the 4R. But that serve of his needs some pumping up!

Murray needs to defend 360 points at Wimbledon or his rank will drop even more. He needs a good draw in order to win the first few rounds.

Based on today's performance, he might want to consider playing mostly 250's to get his confidence up. There are several good 250's on American HC's after Wimbledon. If Agassi and Nishikori could play Challengers, then Muzz could play some 250's. He's not going to go far in Masters 1000's in this form. Hopefully he gets better. Played much sharper against Nick last week.

He will but he's getting no further than R4 and that's only assuming he avoids some big names. I'm not even sure what he needs to do to get into Wimbledon, i am assuming he's gonna get offered a wildcard if he picks to play? But yeah, he will wanna play and fitness wise he looks able to compete. I've watched all 3 of his return matches and at no point has he looked physically out of touch so i don't see why he couldn't play Wimbledon.

Since going down 5-2 Murray has suddenly come to life and he's playing really well now. Bit too late to win the match i think but who knows?

Depending on his draw and good form. Seriously, there's lots of guys ranked 50-100 that are hungry and can grind and move the ball around. Don't take any matches in a GS for granted. I wouldn't bet on him to get too r4 regardless of the draw right now.

Murray breaks back and holds,,Edmunds up two breaks is in the driver seat to serve for the match.

Cheers

Murray would be direct entry, cause when cutoff was he still had his RG semi points of last year.

lets not underestimate this performance by Edmund, Grass is his weakest surface and he's absolutely dominating a decent Murray today. Very good signs going into Wimbledon for him, less so for Murray but he came to life at the end. Good match from both tho
