Easy way to add a flare to your flat Yonex handle!

I've heard of people using hockey tape, heat shrink sleeve and overwrapping the overgrip, but I tried using a spare grip band underneath the overgrip and it created a decent flare... seems much easier to do, cleaner to reverse if you don't like, and replicate if you're doing this to multiple sticks.

If anyone is willing to give it a go, I know Tourna sells them separately and they come with a few replacement grips, along with coming stock on some racquets like babolat.

I just did the Gasquet method: Wrapped my overgrip around the buttcap 3 times.:

Granted he starts out w/ a super-flared grip, and only goes up halfway, but going around 3 times with Supergrap still leaves me just enough to finish the grip, and gives me a decent flare.

I like a thin flare so I take an old overgrip, cut in down the middle for about 7 inches then wrap that around the end of the handle twice. For me that's about the perfect flare, not too thick but thick enough to know it's there.

Tourna also sells a Power Cap, which is a silicone butt cap piece that goes over your current butt cap. Works very well and I've used it for years.

The few Yonex I've had needed lead anyway, so I wrapped it around the but cap to flare it instead of putting it in the handle. Actually works out great, since they don't have trapdoors... No need to deal with staples.

Either the yonex grip shape has changed with the Sony sensor edition, I have changed or my technique has, (likely a combination of all three!) but I was getting horrific wrist pain on my forehand with yonex rackets. First with sv95 and I put it down to increased stiffness so changed to dg 310 but still experienced it. Turns out it was wrist location due to the lack of flare on the grip mean my wrist was getting jammed when swinging.

Switched the yonex butt cap for a Wilson and no problems now. Wilson prostaff buttcap +1 size up on the yonex fits perfectly. Wilson Sony sensor buttcap +1 size works but needs electrical tape wrapped round the handle twice to make the cap fit nicely (no glue and they are still stuck).

I just double wrap first loop on both grip and overgrip on my Yonexes for a nice prominent flare - easy-peasy.

Ahhh such a good idea! I never thought of this. It could have saved me a knife in my finger trying to get the dreaded yonex butt cap staples out!

I used to put a couple of those rubber rings that some rackets have at the top of the handle around the butt cap. Then I'd wrap around a couple of times with the overgrop for good measure.
