Educate me on Technifibre Racquets

I've tried a lot of different racquets and primarily play Yonex (Vcore 95, VCP), Head (Prestige), Wilson (Blade 18M, Clash).

Been thinking about trying Technfibre for the first time and mostly interested in the TF40 315 and Tfight 315 RS. I'm not seeing a lot of differences and am not familiar with the different lines in Technifibre. I typically like fairly soft, control oriented frames with dense patterns and thin beams but a little bit of free power wouldn't hurt. Thoughts?

I highly recommend Tecnifibre Tf40. Fantastic frame. I prefer it to Blade v7/v8 and all Radicals since Graphene (honestly YouTek IG Radical has a similar feel).
I wasn't impressed by Graphene 360+ Prestige MP (haven't checked the rest) – but I think Auxetic Prestige Pro (former MP) is a good racket.
Haven't played with VCore 95, but I have played with both VCore Pro 97HD (prefer it over G360+, but I guess Auxetic Prestige Pro is the best of them).

The TF 40 series frames are traditional box beam frames that are foam filled and quite flexible. The 315 has a good combination of specs that would suit a wide variety of players,
The TFight RS 315 is a more aerodynamic, modern stiffer frame with more power.
I prefer the TF40, it’s the best racquet they make at present.

TF40 would be worth trying. Just be aware most people seem to favour the 305 (not just because of the weight/balance, according to tecnifibre they have a different layup).

Surprising amount of free power given the high level of control, and the feel is great.

The thing that worries me about the 305 is the balance is only 3 pts HL, I usually like around 7-9HL strung. The thing I just can't deal with on the V8 blade and the Speed Pro I had for example is that they just weren't maneuverable enough for my taste. The 315 looks to be 7 HL with a slightly lower swing weight which I thought would be in my wheelhouse.

Does the TF40 305 swing more like a Blade 18x20 in it's heft/maneuverability/power?

I would say Tf40 is easier to maneuver than Blade v7 which had higher SW – and at the same level as the current Blade v8.
With Tf40 You can easily add 3-7g to the handle to make it more headlight.

Just a shame there's no trapdoor, one of my few complaints about the TF40!

I have mine more headlight - I just wrapped some lead tape around the buttcap (since I quite like a bit more flare anyway) before re-gripping. Would be a lot easier to make small adjustments with a trapdoor though.

As many mention.. Tecnifibre grips run small and have a very different shape than others..
It's hard to get past without modifications..then once modifications starts.. specs will be adjusted.. and perhaps performance..

Are you referring to the 305 or the 315? I currently have a V8 Blade 18x20 and it's not as manuverable as I would like.

VC95 is my main match stick, that won't change. I just like trying/messing around with other frames for fun. Right now I have a 2021 VCP 97 310, a V8 Blade 18x20 (for sale) and some G360+ Prestige MP's rotating through the bag.

It looks like we are searching for the same type of racquet. I also have Prestige MP (now Pro) and TF40 315 on my demo list, but most likely will switch to VCP D. I love my VCP 310 but the SW around 320 is too low for me, I need 330 and don't want to lead it up. I hit amazing with Blade v7 but it strains my sensitive wrist a little bit.

Similar but I like low swing weights and highly manuverable frames. Low 320 SW is great for me and around 10-11 HL unstrung, 7-8 strung. I hated the previous gen VCP HD, tempted to try a new 97D. I have a 2021 97 310, it's not bad but it's not amazing either, may sell it.

Well I bought a new TF40 315 so we'll see how this pans out. I got 3/8th as I read Technifibre grips run small to size compared to Wilson, Head etc. I can use L2 or L3. Any ideas on best string or tension? For 18x20's I usually do a thin 1.15 poly or poly/hybrid in the mid 40's.

Congratulations, I hope you share a report on TF40 315!

My go to with most 18x20 frames is gut/poly and that's what I use in the 305, but I seem to remember quite enjoying poly a few Tier One polys in the mid 40s when I tried them.

Is the 305 actually different layup than 315, does anyone know ?
I’ve tried the 315, very plush, but it was the wrong grip size so I did it have a good time with it. Would love to try it out with the proper grip size.

Is the grip too small for its size? How big is the problem? Would a couple of overgrips solve it?

Why not go for leather grip? Depending on which one you choose it will give you 10gr or so extra in the handle more evenly distributed than just a weight under the trapdoor.

One option, although never been a massive fan of leather for some reason (also I wanted to minimise the increase in static weight)

Hi, I’ve searched online, some stated the same that the grip runs a bit smaller in Tecnifibre. Just want to have a bit confirmation and suggestion. I usually use Head grip 2 with one or sometimes two overgrips. In this case should I get a grip 3 for TF40? Many thanks

I'll let you know when I get my TF40. I heard they run small so I went with size 3. I normally use size 2 for yonex and can use 2 or 3 for head/wilson.

Got the frame in. It's 322 grams - 7 grams over spec and 7.5HL instead of 10 HL unstrung. Pretty disappointing.

The grip feels more like a true size 3 doesn't seem to be running small compared to other brands. I took the grip off and found a layer of clear tape on the grip so I took that off and re-wrapped the grip tight to reduce the grip size a bit which also reduced the static unstrung weight to 318. Unfortunately it probably also made the weight a bit more head heavy as it's 7.5 HL unstrung instead of 10.

Also does anyone have the 2 piece tie off points for the TF40 315?

I enjoy playing with the TFight 305 XTC's I have. IMO, they perform well stock but I haven't had much luck switching to heavier grips or adding lead. YMMV, but for me the only way I enjoy that frame is stock. Adding a leather grip just makes the racquet feel slow and cumbersome - ironically, because it should make it a little more headlight.

Solid hit. Good spin from the 18x19 pattern + reasonable string durability. Accuracy. Feel. It checks all the right boxes in stock form and I think any of the 305 racquets from TF are worth a test. Pretty much every other racquet I own is significantly more headlight, by the way, but I haven't struggled with my game with the 305 - and I do hit a one-hander.

Thanks for sharing. But weir and interesting that a clear tape under the grip? Is that normal or it’s not supposed to be there? I have no idea but just curious.

I'm not sure I've never owned a TF racquet before. I have seen other companies put the clear double sided tape to help secure the base grip.

I strung up the frame with my usual Diadem hybrid 1.15 star shaped poly and 1.25 monofilament poly amide at 45 lbs, my go to tension for thinner beam control oriented 18x20 sticks.

I'm not sure if I just got a frame that is completely out of spec (too heavy and too head heavy) but the racquet did not play well at all. Felt sluggish like a V7 blade without the heavy pop and not much spin and average control. Really was not impressed at all. After the hit I swapped out the stock grip for a head leather grip which brought the strung weight up from 340G and 4 HL to 352G and 8 HL with overgrip and a dampener. I'll give it another shot this weekend and see what I think.

I was hoping it would play similar to my G360+ Prestige MP's as they are similar specs but the Prestige is way better in my book so far and didn't need modifications either.

TF40 was the answer to my prayers.

People don't like the balance but it's been great for me as my strokes tend to be a bit laggy/slappy and I was shanking a lot with a lighter, more HL racquet.

Well the TF40 315 is supposed to be pretty light according to specs. Problem is their tolerance is 1CM/10MM which is 3 pts either direction. I happened to get a frame that was 7 grams too heavy and 3.5 pts too head heavy.

Tell me if you don't miss Yonex QC :)
Specs for TF racquets vary like crazy. So much that 2 people could buy the same model yet may as well be playing with completely different sticks because the specs are so different. I had an iga with a strung swingweight of 332 and an RS300 with a strung SW of 305 both of which were way off the TW measured SWs.

My Vcore 95 2021's are not going anywhere. I just like playing around with other frames for casual hitting, but in a real match it's Yonex all the way. I really need to stop buying/trying random frames, it's become pretty bad. Of the top of my head here's what I bought/tried in 2021.

Wilson: Blade Pro V7 18x20, Blade V8 18x20, Clash Pro
Yonex: VC95 2021, VCP 97 310 (green), VCP 97 310 (new blue/purple), Ezone Tour, VCP 97 HD (green)
Head: G360+ Speed Pro, Radical Pro, Prestige MP (keepers), Extreme Tour
Technifibre: TF40 315

I'm a bit jealous honestly because these are all racquets I wanted to try and compare with my VCP 310. I feel I should just commit to my racquet!

I'm probably not going to keep my VCP 97 310, honestly there hasn't been much difference in my opinion since the navy blue one which I also owned a few years ago. If you haven't tried a VC95, you definitely should.

Oh yeah I also bought a Ezone Tour and the green VCP 97 HD (hated it).

I own VC95 (2021), loved it on my 1hBH and backhand slice, great for hitting attacking flat shots. I felt the frame lacked stability for me. I found myself playing more consistently with the VCP.

Add 2 grams of lead at 3 and 9 on each side 4 grams total and lower the string tension a bit

I tried that a few months ago, I guess I copied that setup from you: I was recovering from wrist pain caused by some bad string choices at that time. I loved the playability and feel of that setup, but it seemed to bother my not yet fully recovered wrist even with soft multi at low tension. I must admit I hit a really heavy ball with it! VCP 310 + Luxilon Element @50 = happy wrist for me :) I may want to come back to your VC 95 setup again one day.
